Your build looks great! You have inspired me to get moving on my Eidecker modification! With all these new allied WWWl by planes being build I better get my Eindecker in the mix.
Had a great day of flying yesterday, and the Pizza was good too! thanks (:-)

Whoops! Sorry about the spelling on Biplanes! Sometimes my fingers get moving to fast for the brain. Sorta the same as my flying sometimes!

Work on the right wing continues. So far it has been straight forward working right from the manual / plans.
The only issue I have had so far on the lower wing is one of the notches in one series of ribs were a little too small for the associated spar. A quick sanding of each notch solved the issue.
I also had another issue, but this one had nothing to do with the plane / kit. If you pull too hard on the tip of your glue bottle it may rip off... Oops. Fortunately I was down to about 1/4 bottle so I will just use the rest up and if it goes bad I'll toss it. Already have a new bottle. I'm staying with the Gorilla brand wood glue.

I also use Gorilla glue but never leave it in the store bottle.I put it in a ketch-up squeeze bottle from the dollar store, real easy to use.

I just finished up putting on the sub-leading edge and sanding the spars making the wing ready for the aileron construction. I am considering modifying the aileron and making it top hinged. This would give me more throw than stock and hopefully correct the "Sluggish" aileron this plane is known to have.
I'll think it over until next weekend when building can resume.

I did exactly that and I am very satisfied with how it turned out. I also arranged for differential throw...about 1" down and 1.5" up.

I will soon be mounting the engine. Instructions talk about using washers to create drown and right thrust. Interested in how other people have done with the washers. When I did my test fitting, before I started covering, I used two washers on the top mounting post ( I am using a DLE 30 with recarb) and one on the lower left mount. Is this enough or should I use more?

I mounted my engine at an angle so that adding washers to the two top mounting screws gives both down and right thrust.

I just finished up putting on the wings trailing edge, the ailerons leading edge, the aileron ribs, and the wing bolt filler block.
As planned I modified the ailerons into a top hinged single bevel design. The only issue I foresee, which should not effect the strength of the wing, is there will be a slight gap between the wing and the aileron in the area of the tip. As the wing tapers at the tip the aileron gap will open up slightly. This is due to the single bevel design. I decided the added aileron movement, which translates into more aileron authority, was paramount to a tiny gap.
Installing the block for the wing bolt was a little "fiddley" but the band saw really helped cutting to the correct shape. A roughly pre-shaped block is provided but it would have taken quite a bit of work to fit without the bandsaw.

I just bought a used one. It came with 60 in/oz servos is this enough for this plane?

I looked at the manual for the 1/4 Nieuport and it states 5 servos with 60 oz of torque are a minimum for the model. Your's should work per Balsa USA. I would likely use more. Somewhat depends on how you fly the plane.

I've been working away and am now installing the upper sheeting of the lower wing. I did the lower sheeting last weekend. We're getting there!
As always, I have a little help when building (Seen in the last photo). Just when you think you are going to get some wood out of the box he shows up.

Phil,
Looking into the cats eyes, I would be a little reluctant to try and move him from that box! Your build I'd really coming along great!

Work as slowed a bit as I glue up the sheeting. Each piece seems to take a bit. I glue the sheeting at the spars... allow to dry.... bend and glue the sheeting to the leading edge.... wait.... bend the tip, glue it, and wait for it to dry.
Pre-bending got the majority of the curve set into the sheeting. In the photo you can see the small amount of weight holding the sheeting at the tips down on the structure as the glue dries.
Once the tip sheeting glue dries I will cap strip the wing.

I've also received a few of the pieces for later in the build.... Wheels and Guns!
Both are William's Brothers. They appear to be very nice. Should be great on the model.
I will likely order a pilot figure from Aces of Iron. I just need to see if my friend will paint it for me, Knucklebutt? You listening???? I'm not sure I have the skill to pull off painting a pilot (Unless I want a clown).

Here is a good link to pilot painting. http://www.klasskote.co.uk/pdfs/MAN%...ainting%20.pdf Use pastel artist chalks. It's more realistic and if you mess up you can wipe it off. I did mine this way and it looks real. I'm not good at that kind of thing but pastels made it easy.
