Default Dyna Flite Super Cub Questions

I have a kit and an old Quadra 42 that have been sitting around for years. Are these kits worth the time and money to get in the air? Anything to watch for, building tips, flying characteristics ect. All replies greatly appreciated.

My experience is with the Dynaflite Super Decathlon. I believe these kits are worth building and putting the Quadra on them is a good fit. The SD tends toward being tail heavy. Don't know about the Super Cub. There are some structural weaknesses that needed to be addressed, but they weren't major and easily dealt with. Most of this has to do with the principal material used for the fuselage (lite-ply). some strategic doubling or replacement with A/C ply is recommended.

Have fun with it!

I built one years ago. I still fly it and it is a good project. The biggest thing to look out for is that it is very easy to build up a lot of weight when you build the structure for holding the wing tube to the spar. I upgraded to the robart cub gear and I would reccomend doing that.

Regards,

Dave

Thanks, Guys. I'll keep the things you mentioned in mind while considering building this thing.

I have a chance to get the kit from a friend. How much did yours weigh, and what did you power it with?  What power (no electric) would you recommend for a float version?

You fly a 550 too?  [8D]

Eddiec I fly a 550 for my day job. I powered the Supercub with an OS 160FX It is more engine than it needs but it fit in the cowl was relatively inexpensive. I think it would be a good powerplant for float flying. The only dead stick I ever had with it was when I ran it out of gas. I have no idea of the weight but I think it is a fairly heavy model. It flies well though. Would make a good candidate for float flying.

Dave
