Ziroli 87" Stearman Scratch Build
Hello everyone. I've decided to document my upcoming winter project, a Ziroli plans 87" wingspan Stearman. I've decided to scratch build this airplane, cutting all my own parts, as I feel I enjoy projects better with my own parts than laser cut parts. It will be a somewhat slow build, but I will do the best I can to update how the aircraft is coming along. I'm an old school builder, I use all wood glue (aliphatic) and on occasion I use Sig-Ment (like ambroid). I plan on making this aircraft semi detailed with Sig koverall fabric and nitrate dope covering.
Specs:
Plans- Nick Ziroli
Wingspan- 87"
Length- 68"
Weight- 30-34 Pounds
Engine- 50-75cc gas (I will be using a Zenoah G62)
I plan on using a Zenoah G62 on this aircraft with a dummy radial upfront. I will have a 3" prop extension so the engine can stay hidden on the fiberglass shroud and have the 3" extension go through the dummy radial.
I have some parts cut already and will post pictures soon!

Jason,
I framed one of these up several years ago. The plane builds pretty quick. I think I cut all the parts in one weekend. I sold the plane while it was in the bones so I can't comment on how it finished up or fly's. A G-62 should be more than enough power for the plane.
If you do a search you will probably find my old thread.
Looking forward to seeing your build.
