Since the ARF was made by SIG we'll overlook your indiscretion this time... (Said with the nose held high in the air, with a snooty condescending tone, while tripping over his own fat feet and looking like a total dweeb!)

Please sign me in as well... I've been a SIG fan for years. One of my winter projects is to recover a Sig Rascal 40 that I have recently repaired.

Thanks,

Bob

Ye gads, man!!!! How many people can that beast carry?

Guaranteed that no OS .40 can lift THAT critter. Actually, that's quite the airplane. Would LOVE to see one fly.

No, but my hopped up high compression Saito FA180HC CDI BBC engine will. It makes 3 1/2 HP on 15% Cool Power & 4HP on 30% O'donnell Speed Blend.

If a stock 2.8HP FA180 will do this.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mv70ld3yiMI

Imagine what 25% or 43% more power will do.

This my favorite video clip of the rascal 100.

Got my 4 Star 20 from my buddy Bruce at brucercengines.com today. He built it for me as a Christmas present or something. Hope my photography can do it justice, he is a master builder.

SrTelemaster150, I have heard of guys blowing up plans before put that is getting a little out of hand! Does anyone here besides me remember who designed the first "Rascal" and what the size was? SIG based their Rascal on someone else's design let's see if I'm the only old fossil that knows what it is.

Supposedly it was an adaptation of an "old timer" free flight model.

Given the "classic" lines, that sounds correct.

Close here is a picture of the original Rascal. Take a look at the name on the box!

This is what I love about RCU - you learn something EVERY day! Where did you ever come up with that pic?

re: That "super-sized" Rascal - just a tiny bit bigger and you can RIDE it. I can just see the reaction when something like that hits the flying field - would love to be there myself.

Dave, I was looking for Rascal C builds and color schemes when I found the picture by accident. I was surprised to find it I never suspected SIG took their inspiration from another design. Then again it isn't that unheard of back then. There was a lot of cross pollination in designs (just look at the Stiks) so I'm sure Top Flite didn't care.

Side note: The "N" shown on the Rascal was last issued in 1968 for an AutoGyro and has been revoked. The number was not used after that.

Kadet MkII, 3 Seniors (one died and 2 survive) and one to be built, LT-40, 1/4 scale Spacewalker to be built, and 1/3 scale Spacewalker to be built. I just opened the box on a Kadet Senior Sport ARF. Unlike the kit, the new ARF has lite-ply fuselage similar to the LT-40.

Please sign me up.

Weighed the new 4 Star 20, looks like it will come in right at the 2.5lbs SIG said it would. Perfect for that OS26FS.

I have a friend who built a 4-Star 20 and he loves it. He made it electric but his motor is an equivalent of your OS26FS, I think. I'm going to be building a 4-Star 40 with a modified wing sometime in the near future.

The new 4 Star 54 ARF is a clipped wing version of the 4 Star 40 .
