Skylark, I've been lurking waiting to see that bad boy again.Looking forward to the Pics. If you need me to send something nice to the better half so she will come out and help you let me know.

Nothing on the Rascal 168 yet, so started my Ziroli B-25 instead. Not sure if I want it now since the Mitchell is taking up both workbenches now.

you have two work benches. How cool is that. I only have one and some little girl is taking that up with her 4*20. She is starting to dislike covering too.

I'm with you on having two benches, some guys have all the luck! I can't blame your little girl, covering was never one of my favorite chores but it does beat sanding.

Get rid of the film. Buy her some Solartex. She will love you (more), and never look back. Don't know if they have pink, but you can actually paint it any color you want.

I bought Solartex for my DR.1 project it will be the first time I used it, can it go directly over the balsa or do you have to first coat the wood with a sealer?

I use Aquanet hair spray, for added adhesion. It's a trick that Jerry Nelson taught me, years ago.

Aquanet is an old lacquer based hairspray if I remember correctly. My mother used it for years I didn't know they still made it.

Flyer, I wouldn't be afraid of ironing Solartex directly over unsealed balsa. I only apply sealer in areas that I need extra holding power. A good example of this, when I was covering the tail fillet on my Cub, I added the sealer in that area.

Thanks guys! Thinking of the DR.1 theresurfaces ar pretty straight forward the only place I can think it might help is the scalloped trailing edges.

Nope, I have 5 work benches, three are covered with "stuff" that I can't seem to find room for, the big one has the wood on it for the B-25 and the other one has the B-25 on it. One weekend this winter I plan to go through everything down there and start junking things. I have a washer and dryer that need to be hooked up, and power run to, and some junk in the back to toss out, and two shelves of "stuff" from 15 years ago when we first moved in. I need more room, not for building, but for storing planes and materials. At some point I want a dedicated bench for my mill and lathe so I can start using them. Going to build my own landing gear for the B-25 and P-61.

How big are the mill and lathe? I have a Sherline 5000 mill and 4000 lathe. Found the bed on the lathe to be a bit short, considering it's a 3X8 and not the 17"

Just a note for the "Crunch", Solartex doesn't come in pink but it does come in Cream or Lite Red through Tower Hobbies

Well if you look at it that way I have two and a half. Ome to build on, one that has a scroll saw and vice, I think it has been so long I haven't seen the top of that one with the clutter. The half bench has my lathe on it.
I really hate when people point out stuff like this now I have to clean also. I need to do this before the 168 comes out so i have enough room to build. This weekend i will have to push the little one along to free up that bench.

Not sure what the models are, all I know is one is computer controlled, the other has digital readouts. I have used the lathe to cut spacers for the DLE30 mounts, but thats it. I have an old steel desk that they sit on, along with a bunch of other "stuff". Needless to say I have too much "stuff", and don't know where to put it. There is "stuff" for building, "stuff" for the house, "stuff" to store other "stuff" with.

If someone told be to get stuffed, TOO LATE!

I discovered this pass year by cleaning out and reorganizing every 12 years or so I find lots of Balsa I didn't know I had and a lost project or two. Now I can shop the 3 or 4 kit boxes on shelf above the garage workshop whenever I need a bit of wood. Unfortunately I still can't use the garage workbench to build on but that's a whole another story.

Oh, I don't even know where to begin with my garage. Its a 4 car deep garage that can fit 4 F350 Crew cab 8 foot bed duallies with room, but I have room for 2 cars and my F150 only. The rest is , yep you guessed it, more "STUFF"!

I seriously need a fire sale.

Wasn't going there, JIC. So just to prove I ain't a kiddin. The last one is the B-25 center section, I epoxied the top spar and front stringers in last night after fitting the lower spar. The second one is my poor little T-Clips after me doing a stupid move and forgetting it is NOT a Something Extra.

BTW if anyone spots Waldo in those pics, let me know, he has been missing for quite a while now.

Well it looks like a workable shop to me. You can stand up AND turn around without knocking something over!! At least you've got priorities on making Coffee. Keurig on the right, Mr Coffee on the left.

Actually thats a Bella single cup brewer on the left. Have one sitting next to me on my desk at work too.

The downside is when I need a place to put something, I am like, ***?!?! Never ending battle, one I hope to overcome this winter. I need a wall cabinet that I can store the rolls of covering in, along with the balsa and plywood. Maybe a couple more of the wall hanging baskets, if they can be found long enough will work. There is also a shelf above that bench the Clips is on that holds a few models and a couple built kits scraps and plans. If I wreck the 4* or LT-40 or Cub(s) I have the patterns in those boxes.

I feel so sorry for you I want to help. You can empty off the top shelf on the left in the first picture and ship to me, and I'll store all that stuff for you. ;-)
