Boys ain't that the truth! I have no idea other than finding a large box trailer to haul my pup to the field...DOH! It will not fit in the back of mt pickup very well because the box is only a 5 footer. .i need to figure something out because it is about ready to maiden... I only need the pilot figure now! I just made the machine gun out of materials I had laying around and it looks pretty good ! I need only to mount it and make the wind screen / crash pad .
I also added a free castering tail wheel to it so it can at least somewhat turn at the field.
Now to convince the wifey to get me the pilot figure for it. YEAH RIGHT......... lol

Remember back in the good old days when every pickup except a step side could haul a 4 FT X 8FT sheet of plywood?

Actually, even a step side could haul a full sheet of plywood laying flat, but just barely. The difference today is your standard pickup is either a standard cab or a crew, with or without rear seat leg room. To be able to use the same frames as the older trucks, they had to shorten the bed or, preferably for the manufacturers, jack the price up and sell a full bed that is a witch to deal with in close quarters, such as a parking lot. Why did they do this? Look at how our good old trucks are used now days. We don't haul lumber or building supplies since most don't build anything, we call a contractor so we don't have to do the labor and spend our time. We don't do yard work, many live in condos or apartment complexes or, again, call a yard service to do the work so we don't have to haul anything for that either. We haul toys(bikes, water craft, sporting equipment, etc) or trailers, mostly for a weekend get-a-way or use it for a work vehicle to drive to and from work. A truck is no longer a tool, it's a status symbol to show how much we can spend on it or the toys we haul/tow with it.

I can't say much about being able to haul a full sheet of ply either. When the wife and I bought a truck, I wanted a full sized one with an extended cab(not a crew either). I wanted a truck that could easily go through said parking lots, haul stuff and, unlike the crap available now, be useful. Wife wasn't having it, however. She wanted something smaller, more her size that would be similar to driving a car. We ended up with an S-10, but not the junk version that's nothing more than a commuter rig. I put down my foot on it having a V6, an extended cab and two wheel drive. She countered with requiring an automatic transmission and air conditioning. I figured this would be next to impossible to find but, low and behold, she found one. It has only one drawback, that being it only has a five foot bed. If I need anything longer, I have to leave the tail gate down or take it off completely and/or leave the bed cover partially up. I can't complain about it too much since I have used it to pull our 26 foot trailer all over the northwest and as far away as Little Rock Arkansas. Only modifications I made were adding a trailer hitch receiver, light wiring harness, brake controller and transmission cooler. What the heck, it does what we need, and then some

Well mine is a 1/2 ton full sized sliverado crew cab 4x4 because I tow with it all summer long hauling 8 plus thousand pound hay wagons and hay making tools back and forth and then commute to work everyday on top of all this and manage 2 young monsters , it ain't easy ...
I need to make a box to hold the pup in I can load in the back.

My favorite old truck I had was this one, my best buddy called it the I Hop.

1964 International Harvest 345 V8 4 speed T-98 transmission. In its previous life it had been a wrecker.

Now that's a truck! I too had one, 4x4 with the tow boom in tact ! I used it for plowing the 600' driveway we had. It had no mufflers or brakes lol but had good heat and wipers lol.

I pulled a house trailer once and on another occasion I pulled a stuck Chevy 1/2 ton up a steep embankment sideways! With the granny gear you could pull a house down.

Mine doesn't have that kind of grunt. With a 4.3 liter V6(basically a cut down 350) and a four speed auto, it will pull up to 5600 lbs fairly easily BUT, when you start climbing hills, it needs to be in no more than second gear

Love those old Internationals. We had an early 70's 4wd for a fuel truck on the farm. It was pretty worn out and would oscillate in the yaw axis while driving in a straight line down the road. My current airplane hauler is a 2000 Chevy extended cab with a long wide bed. It was my dad's last farm truck. I expect that Flyer in OKC experiences the same thing that I do. Long wide bed trucks tend to be actual working vehicles. Between farming and oil field they tend to get used up rather than being sold on.

So true! Years ago when I was a high school kid my best buddy and I went up to Jet Oklahoma to put a roof on a barn and do some dove hunting. The old farmer who was building the barn had an all original 1946 International pickup he was still using and had a whole another body sitting in the field. I always regretted not going back and talk him out of one or the other or both. The 46 was geared low for hauling power it would not go over 35 mph but it could tow anything.

I know this has been said before, but I just got my order from Iflytailies for my 1/3 scale Albatross. His work is so good. It's better than good, it's really good. Check him out if you need stuff. He has lots and creates more items all the time. Just my 2 cent worth of opinion.

a shot of the monster outside with the finished wind screen and machinegun I made both from scratch.
I fired it up to see how bad things would be vibrating and to my surprise it was as smooth as silk! And WAY TOO MUCH PROP! IT WON'T SIT STILL AT AN IDLE!! The pull it has a full throttle is simply scary! 32x12 at 4700 rpm is retarded for this plane! I need to get a 28x10 or 30x10 . It will be a handful to land as it is!

Thanks Rich, it has an EME 120cc twin from Mile High Rc. Im hoping to maiden it sometime in June. I really want to get the pilot for it before its first flight.

I ran into the same problem with the pitch on my triplane. started with a 12 pitch and ended up with a 6 pitch before it would slow down enough to land without a really long runout. Nice build. And I also have an engine from Milehighrc. Super place to do business with.

I am beginning to get the impression that this big plane is not going to get to fly, at least from my hands anyways... the club field I belong too is in dispute with the Division of Fish and Game..... and we can't fly from it... unreal....

I tell ya boy if it isn't one thing its another, now my pilot showed up and got my 30x8 prop all mounted and just need to install the new Dubro wheels I got off fleabay for a song... and it will be ready for the sky... and still no field to fly it off of...mmmmmm
What blew my mind though was how nice the pilot slips in . Gets me all giddy it looks soooo coool!!

Well got the wheels mounted, that was a piece of cake thanks to a scale tip I got out of I think MAN , anyways it worked out slick and now it roles smooth as silk.
question for you ww1 guys, do you use a seat harness/ belt or nothing at all to hold in your pilots?

What was the the trick you used with the wheels to get them rolling smoothly

Using Dubro 9.33" scale wheels and soldering a brass 1/4" tube to the axle for the wheel to turn on and easy peasy to cross drill the tube for a cotter pin.
