Tough question to answer as posted.

Do you have any model building or RC experience? When you say build from a kit, are you looking for a full balsa build, or are you looking to assemble something that is already has major components like wings and fuselage built up and covered? There are "kits" that include all of the electrical components (i.e.; radio transmitter, receiver, servos, etc.), but these are typically a foam based Almost Ready to Fly (ARF) where you are assembling rather than building from the ground up. I have never seen a kit that you build up from balsa parts that has all the components, but perhaps you could find a package deal somewhere.

Also, you mention Biplane. If you have no RC light experience, I would suggest starting with a high wing trainer first. Your best bet is always to find someone who can help you get started in person (typically at a local club).

Thank you aymodeler, I will look for something like you suggested. I really want to get into the model airplane experience. I would like to build a wood balsa by-plane even if its just for show. That would keep me busy while my broken hip repairs . I went to your blog and seen what you are working on "WOW, WHAT A JOB, LOOKS GOOD" Thank you for your time.

Thanks for the compliment, but I am still just learning myself!

Compared to the real masters out there, what I am doing is mere child's play ...

Well,

The "Smith Mini Plane" kitted by SIG can make a beautiful static scale model if that is what you are after. A little bigger than most "Static Models" but not too big.

A little smaller and considerably cheaper would be the "WACO YMF5" kitted by DUMAS. It would require some creativity to incorporate the ailerons on this one though.

The "Ultimate" kitted by GREAT PLANES could make a nice static model as well

For some smaller stuff go here and look at these. You would have to do some redesign to have moving control surfaces though

There is more out there. These were just the easiest to find.
