Default Midwest 109

A few years ago I got a deal on a 53" Midwest Bf-109 which I haven't started yet.
I'm just looking for comments from anyone who's built this.
I'd love to see your pictures of the finished bird also!

I built two of them many, many years ago and they were both really great little airplanes. All of the models in the series were very much stand way off scale but they were simple to build and great fun to fly. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of either one, wish I did.

Well that's good news!
What power did you use?

As I recall KC the first one was powered with an OS .46SF and the second with a Rossi .40 that had previously been my Q500 engine of choice. Both were substantially over powered. I am reminded by our conversation that a good friend of mine modified one into V-tail configuration for warbird racing as well. There was a single full size example tested with a V-tail and it worked so well on the Quickie 500 race planes that we thought it might have some advantage on a warbird racer too. Pretty sure I have some pictures (35mm) of that one around somewhere. If I can find any I will have them scanned and post them here.

Good luck!

Had one flying years ago. Banged up the wing pretty good one day and ordered a wing set, decal set, and canopy from Midwest.....still in the box to be built. Flying a kyosho 109 and an esm 109 now. heres a pic, gear twisted a bit on a ground loop on landing. put it straight and cranked down the set screw and flew several more flights that day. That Futaba gold box FM was relatively new at the time; 7or 8 ch...can't recall

That's the one.
The Abbeville boys scheme is striking.

I had one back in the 90's. It was quite an enjoyable little plane. I mounted my engine, a K&B .40 with the cylinder to the side for better looks. As I recall it was a pretty easy build.
