Looking to buy an Engine for this beast and cannot decide. Bruce specifies to NOT overpower this fine craft. I was planning on going with a Saito 80, but it is not on sale. The Saito 72 and 91 are though. So, which would better suit this plane?
I am not nto overpowering. I put a Saito 100 on my Ultra Stick 60 and have not had it over 1/2 throttle yet because it is WAY too fast for me.

i've got the saito .91 on mine and i think it's a great match. granted i don't fly above half throttle a lot of the time either, but there's also plenty of power to give you great vertical (for hammerheads, vertical rolls etc.) or to get you out of sticky situations. it also balanced perfectly without adding any weight with the .91 with rudder and elevator servos in the stock positions (i.e not in the tail). also, with a 16 oz. tank i've flown for 15-20 minutes and i'm not close to running out of gas. it'll definitely fly with the .72 (my instructor has that configuration), but to me it just begs for a .91!
p.s. i don't have a stick but i'd imagine the v60 would be slower due to the extra wing area and a thicker airfoil

I had a 70 Surpass on mine, and it was more than enough. The Saito 72 will be just fine, although a Saito 91 would do well since it is just a tad heavier than the 72, and give you a bit more power if you wanted it.
A buddy put a Saito 91 on his, and clipped one rib bay out of each side of the wing. It improved the roll rate and didn't have any negative effect on the flying qualities.
Built stock, it is a big *****cat. I trained two people how to fly with mine before I murdered it on the dreaded downwind turn after a flame-out...[&o]
