I am just finishing up my Sig SE. The almost final thing was to mount the aileron servos.
When doing this I discovered that I had screwed up my color scheme - I had planned light on the bottom and dark on the top. My horiz. stab, elevator and fuse are covered this way. The wing is dark on the bottom and light on top - same w/ ailerons. Not only does it look stupid but it might be tough to keep orientated.
I'm too cheap to buy another roll of covering and too lazy to spend another three or more hours monkeying with taking the old cover off and recovering with new.
I might try stripes or a starburst or something to help with orientation. I could try the servos on top of the wing - my colors would match but the plane would fly like crap with the incidence way off and the negative washout turning to positive. Not a good idea.
I'll either have to learn to live with it or bite the bullet and recover it. Anyone ever do anything similar?

Nope, that's by far the stupidest thing I've ever heard of!
Just kidding of course, there's not one of us who doesn't have a flat spot on our foreheads from slapping it in a moment of stupidity. But you have pretty much layed out your options, Live with it, or recover it.
One more suggestion... Personally, I PERFER dark bottom and light top. It may be much quicker and easier to just recover the stab instead of the wing.

Act like you meant it. Done that loads of times
. You are bound to get someone at the field who says "I like the way you have done that scheme with different top and bottom betweent the wing and tail...".
You don't like it because it is not what you intended.
Otherwise you have to bite the bullit and recover.

I put dark on one side and light on the other. Oops!
Actually, this is easy to keep oriented if you know which wing is which. I just think, 'right is white.'

I would recommend stripes on the bottom. Of all the different color schemes, patterns, decorations, etc. I think the easiest to identify is stripes. I doesn't take a lot, just make sure they are high contrast.
If this is the worst of your mistakes, I'd say you're a pretty good modeler. The kit I'm working on now, I screwed up the very first step by gluing the wrong pieces together. Had to go to the hobby shop and buy some replacement balsa. DOH!
