I will be finishing my CG Ultimate 300 soon and I need ideas on a color scheme. I have been building and coming up with color schemes for over 30 years now and my creative abilities went the same direction as hair(or the lack of). I seem to come up with the worst combinations so I am looking hard for something I can use for a starting point.
Please post any pictures of the Ultimate if you have any...or pictures of something you saw that looks nice.

I built this airplane and then built a scaled up version of it to have a 62 inch wing span. I love the way this Ultimate flies.
Here is what mine looks like, the 62 inch one. The smaller one still isn't covered. The covering isn't my original design. I did an internet search and found a picture of one covered very close to mine. Since it was a little different and it also looked scale I copied it.

Ha Tony...I don't know what it is about the color scheme on your Ultimate but it is the most appealing colors and scheme that I have found and I have been all over the internet looking at hundreds of planes. There is just something about the way your eye is sucked into the green. Hell I like it...is it Monokote Or UltraCoat..?Do you think the Saito 180 will be enough for good vertical..?[sm=spinnyeyes.gif]

That is a beautiful color scheme, ysrcflyer! Red, white and blue with a splash of yellow almost always looks great, and your patterns are tasteful.
I don't have a digital pic of my Ultimate which is now about nine years old or so, and I might get sued if you guys copied the color scheme and then crashed......it is nearly all black, with gold stripes down the fuselage sides (narrow ones, two of them) and the open bays of the wings on top only are gold M/cote. It is somewhat striking because you rarely see all black planes on the flight line, but the downsides are (1) you better really watch what you are doing or you can get disoriented during maneuvers, especially on an overcast day, and (2) the black doesn't tolerate our desert heat well, so the plane gets hung during the hot weather.

Tony...I noticed you have a servo at all 4 ailerons...what servos are you using...I will have a 2 JR 4131's (92 oz. torque) on the bottom ailerons with the 2/56 pushrod working the top ailerons...do you think this will work?? I am working on the top wing now so if I need 2 servos in the top wing now would sure be the time.

Boss248, I have two JR 4031 (earlier version of 4131) servos on my bottom wings, with 2/56 rods connecting to the top ailerons. I do have the streamlined K&S aluminum tubing on these rods to stiffen them up....soft balsa pushed into the tubing in each end, with the rod running through that, and thin CA to harden it all up. It has worked fine for a number of years on this airplane.

Tony...I will be using the color scheme like yours but I need to know what covering or paint that you used...I was going to Monokote it but Top Flite does not seel a green to match the covering. I will probably use Super Coverite and shhot it all white with Rustoleum and a good looking green for the rest. Something else I was thinking was Coverite's 21 st. Century white prepainted farbic for the white and shoot the other colors on top of the 21st century white and clear coat it with PPG.
BTW...tony...do you still have the URL for that plane you found on the web???
