I am almost done with an LT-40. What would be a good second kit? I would like more action than the LT-40, but not the same as an SE.
Thanks!

I almost grabbed a 4* 60 from the LHS for my second plane until I found this one. Mine is still under construction.

What about a 4*40 or 120?

Art,
I just wonder if I can handle the Venture 60. Looks like a great plane. I would also have to cover it with clear!
Does it fly OK for somebody that has a few flights in. My goal will be to gain full flight ability by August on my almost done LT-40. Perhaps this would be a better Winter project for me, or should I just get over it and give it a try in a few months?

The Sig Super Sportster 40 is a good 2nd plane. good tail wheel trainer, and lands at about the same speed as the LT-40. you can move the CG back on the sportster and have a very nice aerobatic plane when your ready too. or you can tear apart your LT-40 and turn it into a taildragger.

If you think you can, or could handle the 4*40, or the 120 then you should be able to handle the venture. Have your instructor buddy box for a few flights till you are comfortable with it if you have some doubt. The Venture can fly slow without and problem and the control inputs isn't as radiacal as the SE. The plane is a dream to build bTW as I just framed one up for my friend, a real quality kit.

I'll second the Mid-Star suggestion. I did it as a taildragger and it works great.
One thing no one mentions but is VERY important in a second airplane is for it to be tough. It needs to be able to take quite a few hard landing, dives at full throttle, etc... You know how to take off, land, etc.. But the second plane is where you really learn to FLY. I would look for one without "wire" gear, easy to access engine, etc..
I think both the 4*40 and Mid-Star match this and both are easily modifiable to do whatever kind of flying to want to do. I just lean towards the Mid-Star because I don't like the looks of the 4*40 (bubble canopy yuck).
Cut tips and 2 bays off of eash wing side, lengthen rudder, ailerons, elevator, put two servos in the wings and I'm told the Mid-Star is one of the best acrobatic plane trainers btw.
