i just got a sig four star 60 as my first kit build and i decided to put the servos for the ailerons on the bottom, but the pans show them on the top can i do this or do i have to put them on the top.

Better read the instruction manual again. I'm pretty sure they go on the bottom of the wing. At least mine did.
Do a search here and you'll find lots of pictures of 4*'s.
Great flying plane.

I think I remember the plans being misleading but yes they are on the bottom. Monokote or Ultracote, your choice.

Yeah, re-read the manual. Mine has the servos on the bottom. Either covering will do fine. Monokote will handle more heat, but Ultracoat is easier to apply. Just turn the heating iron down some for Ultracoat. Plus it is cheaper. My Four star is actually covered in Cub Yellow Monokote, with Monokote Checkers, but this was before I realized that Ultracoat is easier to apply. If you use Monokote, take your time and it will come out fine.

Th 4*60 is a great kit, especially if it is you first kit. Very simple to build. I modified my 4*60 some. I am using a pull-pull system on the rudder, counter balancer on the top of the rudder (like an Extra or Edge), dual elevator servos, 1" addition to the rudder and elevators. Better tail wheel, Front hatch under fuel tank(HIGHLY RECOMMENDED MOD), plus some other stuff I can't remember right off hand. Power is from a YS .91FZ, spinning a APC 15X6, but need to get a APC 15x8 or a APC 16x4. It has tons of power. Will hover and has vertical unlimited capabilities. Knife edge is great with very little adjusting. I honestly think it flys better with a more powerful engine. If you can get a YS .91FZ, you will be very happy. If not, get a Saito 100 or an OS 1.20. These are comparable to the power of my YS .91FZ. The front hatch will allow you to balance the plane easier if you need nose weight.

If you need any help feel free to contact me.

What engine are you setting up with.

Post some photos when you finish up.

You will really like your 4*. I have two of them and love them both. What engine are you going to use? I have one with a GMS76 on it and it flies really good. The other one has a magnum 91 4 stroke on it and it is the best. Both planes fly great the way that I have them set up. I would suggest if you are using a 2 stroke engine to go at least 75 or bigger. I flew mine alot with a TT 61 pro on it and it was ok but this plane comes alive with a 75 on it. You will have unlimited vertical and won't have to worry about stalling on big vertical manuvers. I just makes the plane more fun to fly. Here are some pictures of mine. The red and yellow one has red stripes on the wings now.

Sorry for the delay FrankEscalle. The hatch is under the fuel tank. That area is perfect for battery placement and creating a hatch makes it easier to get to. You can also use it to add lead weights if you need. You can see where I had some, but removed them later once I started adjusting the CG. Just make sure that you epoxy or use CG to seal the wood inside the compartment. This should be done anyway even if your don't make a hatch. Hatch just makes it easier. You can see how it is held in place with four small screws. Pictures can say a 1000 words.

I have attached some photos of my hatch. Let me know if you need any more photos or anything.
