top flight p47 60 size
would like to hear from anyone who has built and flown top flights p 47 60 size.---would a 90 size a stroker be enough power?---also thinking of mechanical retracts. if anyone used that kind of set up ---- would like to know what you used and how it worked out--- what it weight and did it need nose weight and its general flight preformance.
thanks for your time.

RE: top flight p47 60 size
Last winter I built one.
I used OS FS-120 III. Balanced perfectly without any lead weight on the nose or tail. Total weight, if I remember well about 5 kgs.
I used Robart's pneumatic retracts. Very reliable and scale like but more expensive compared to mechanical.
I built it with operational flaps, all three external fuel tanks and finished it with Monocote as shown on the box.
P-47 is a great flyer if built correctly. Little triming is needed when deploying flaps and landing gear.
The plane is very stable, can do rolls, inverted flight and other scale manouvers.
Deploying flaps landing speed is way too much reduced making landings a real pleasure.
You will really love this plane.

Great plane. Built one a few years back. Used a Fox .74 engine, Robart retracts, They will work and fit better than mechanicals. Used the flaps as well, Loved the way it flew. Monokoted mine as well but used a different unit to represent.
Hope to build the Larger kit in the near future.

RE: top flight p47 60 size
I built this kit and I really like it. I have a ST 90 for power and that is plenty. It flies great and lands very slow with the flaps. It is finished with .5 oz fiber glass and West Systems epoxy. I painted it with Top Flite LustreKote and it looks just like the picture on the box. I used Spring Air retracts (103HD) and they have not given me any problems. I had to build a tray on the bottom of the motor mounts and put the battery pack along with 6 oz of lead. I also used at 4 oz prop hub and it balances within the range on the plans. The cockpit kit looks very nice but I did not use the dummy engine. I do have the 3 drop tanks but do not fly it with them on.
