Snaproll, I recommend that you not try to build a biplane as your first building project.
Make a biplane your second or third building project. Instead, get a real kit, with good instructions, and build that to get some experience. A kit from Great Planes or Goldberg or Sig, for example, would be a good place to start.[8D]

Ditto on that.
Save the bipe for your 3rd or 4th plane.
Start off building a few 'basic' kits, to learn what goes into building kits.
Look at Great planes and [most] Sig kits. They are well designed, and build very well. Also, both Great Planes and Sig have lots of 'helpful hints' thoughout their manuals.
Look at the Sig 4 Star series, the Sig Somethin' Extra, the Astro Hog, the GP Dazzler, RV4, Slow Poke, Pete'n' Poke, and the Super sportster series to name a few. Mind you, there is a range here, some 'quick & hot' and some 'slow & eazy', and one 'scale'.
note: Some Sig kits are considered "builder's kits" and can be a bear for the first timers!
And yes, you can buy these items from them afterwards, or you can find them form other suppliers, such as 'Fiberglass Specialities'.

I'd second the Easy Sport suggestion. I haven't built that particular model but Great Planes does make some great kits and the manuals are some of the best out there for beginning builders.

As for my first kit build was a 60 to 90 size P-51 top flight. I was pleased with how it looked at finish, but it was a little much for me to start with. And the tail wheel control linkage setup you get int the kit was a joke. If u ever flew with it and hit hard on the tail it would just pop out of the link and be free traveling.
The kit was rather good but had some flaws. Also was I think too much to do in a first build. Especially adding robart neumatic reptacts, and flaps.
Its also rather heavy and fully sheeted. I liked after finished but havn't had the guts to fly it yet. Im thinking of striping it all down for servos and engine and making a static and buying another kit to work on.
