I have seen a lot of the posts in the warbirds section but I didnt want to interupt all the building to ask this question. Besides, they weren't talking about flight characteristics, just building. I have been searching for a kit to work on. I wanted something for a 90 or 120 4-stroke. For some reason, everthing I have been flying are slow flyers. I want something that is a good all-around plane, doesn't have to come close to 3D, but able to do the basic pattern. So far I haven't found much. I looked at the T-34 and it sparked my interest. I would probably not go all-out scale but more sport scale and light. If anybody has any experience with this bird, post away! Is it a handful (for a non-warbird flyer)? Do you have any other suggestions for a good kit?

im building a Top-Flite T34 Mentor right now. and so far its been fun putting it together. im also interested in how well it fly's, I know the T-34 was a military trainer so as far as i know it should be fairly stable. but any help would also be of great help

Because the full scale was a warbird "trainer" says nothing about how the model will fly.
I'm not sure of the brand he bought, but a friend had a T-34 Mentor ARF and it had a really NASTY tendency to tip stall.
All I'm saying is, ask the question (as you have) and hope that someone here has flown the plane.

Model Airplane News, Aug 2004 Issue did a kit review and gave it good marks for building and flying. I am sure that most of your questions will be answred if you read the article.

I bought one last year as a gift for a flying buddy. He installed a Saito 120 with a 3 blade prop. Robart retracts. This plane flies great, plenty of power with the 120. He is able to do all aerobatic manuevers with it. The flaps are very effective and no elevator mixing was needed. With the flaps deployed the plane comes in slow and just settles in. This plane is big and flies incredibly stable. He was happy with the quality of the kit and how well it was engineered, as usual with Top Flite. You'll love it.
