Default Proctor Enterprise kits

I'm buying a Proctor kit, Sopwith 1-1/2 Strutter. Like to hear opinions on how they build from those who have built Proctor stuff. They look great, and have heard nothing but good; "museum quality","lot's of detail", "very scale", etc; all what I'm looking for. What's the consensus?

I guess it depends on how patient you are and how skilled you are. I think Proctor kits are excellent, but they require a lot of tedious detail work which I happen to enjoy. I'm speaking based on the two Nieuport 28's I built which are the only Proctor kits I've built.

One thing I think you should do is sand every single piece including the sticks before you glue anything. They will look a lot nicer than having fuzzy sticks inside the structure that get fuzzier when you paint them.

The VK line is not near as scale as the Proctor line up. Yes Proctor does kit the VK line, but I like to think of the VK line up as Proctor's entry level.

I have an older antic kit. It is a very, very nice kit. All Proctor's stuff is first rate. Even thier entry level stuff is nice. You will love the kit. Just as other's have said take your time. And all will come out fine.

Thanks for the replies. The specs I found on the Strutter make the Proctor kit 1/6 scale (1:5.99) and the only limitation to detail is what the builder decides to leave off or add. No matter what the kit, I always consider them only a starting point. From what I've heard from a couple of noted local WWI builders, the Proctor kits, even the VK's, are way ahead of most in terms of scale accuracy. I had considered one of the Museum kits, but I like Sopwith planes, and you don't see as many Strutters at fly-ins as you do Pups and Camels. I am considering finishing mine as Raymond Collishaw's, who was the top Canadian ace of WWI

Did you buy any of the "recommended accessories" such as scale wheels, pilots, machine guns/mounts, etc? If so, how much were they. Proctor doesn't list those prices on their site and I haven't gotten a catalog yet; what is included with the kit? It lists everything for the museum kits but not for the VK line. I'm on a temporary hold until I can scare up a few more bucks, and I think I'm going to stay with Saito for power, probably a .72. I can't justify the extra cost for a Laser, nice though they look.
