Default 40 or 60 size kit to build

Looking for a 40 or 60 size kit to build this winter. Have a 4*, Ulta Stick, and avistar already. Want something sport maybe a little 3d but handles good on landing.

After doing a lot of browsing here on RCU, I purchased a Great Planes Giles G-202 .40-.60 kit. Plan to put my Saito 91 in it. So now you know my winter plans.

How about a Great Planes Extra 60, or if you could find an Ultra Sport 60. I like the .60 size best, but there is nothing wrong with a .40. Wanna go fast?? Get a Patriot 40 or 90!!!! I know there are a lot of 3D Kits out there, do some searches and have some FUN!!! Happy building whatever you get.

It’s so very disappointing how the popularity of the ARFs are squeezing out all the good kits. Try naming more than a few 40 or 60 size, symmetrical tapered low wing, trike gear, neat looking and fun to fly kits.

I found the following on the Tower website:

1. Sig King Kobra 60
2. Top Flite Contender 60 (not really a tapered wing and ugly, sorry Dave)
3. Great Planes Patriot 40 and 60
4. Sig Kougar Mark II 40

I’m finding that ebay is becoming the best source of good kits, e.g. Qwik Fli, Kaos, Tipo, Currare, UFO, Phoenix. I’m not sure how many kits are still out in ebay land but I’m thankful, that I have my Kaos, Tipo and taper wing Qwik Fli.

Looks like building from plans or scratch building is in our future!

Second on the Ultra sport. Nice airplane. Something different from what you have.

SIG Somethin Extra Nice and precise, slows to a crawl for landing and can do decent 3D, not the really wild stuff like waterfalls but does hover, blenders, nice flat spins, both inverted and upright, can knife edge into thr next state and all the IMAC routines into the sportsman class

Use an OS46AX and an APC 12.25X3.75 and vertical will be unlimited

S! All

I'm very new to the rc aircraft and have much to learn but I'm wondering where all the older planes are? I'm only 40 but I dream of the day I can fly and build the planes of WW1..but I see none offered. Ok- I take that back..sure--an arf DR1 but where is the dreaded Camel? Where is that Alby2, Pup, D7, Spad...Iron men and wooden ships..flowing scarfs and tail draggers?? Let their be Wings of Valor!!!!!!!!!! (Ned ducks under his flying desk)

Ned if you need a WW I fix look up the Proctor web site. Wear a bib, drool on the keyboard is very uncool. Also look at Balsa USA. They have a bunch of nice kits. I believe that Pilot has some nice ones. They are out there. Ya just gotsta look.

What about a bipe? An Ultimate is probably the closest thing you'll get to 3D in a bipe, but I think there are plenty of mfg's still kitting them.
