Great Planes RV-4
I am currently building a Great Planes RV-4. I would like to know how everyone thinks I am doing. This is the first kit I have built.... And for sure will not be the last. I have had tons of fun building... Now I am at the hardddddd part.. Covering it!!! I went ahead and sheeted all the tail parts w/ 1/64 balsa sheeting to make the covering a little easier. Below are some pictures of my current status. Let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Chris
Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,
Looking good! You look like a veteran already. If your anything like me, the more you build the more you want to build. It is very satisfying to fly a plane you built from a box of wood. Scratch building is really rewarding but hurts a little more when you loose your plane. There are just too many ARFs out there. It seems like people just don't want to take the time to build anymore.
Chris, what engine are you planning to install?
Keep us posted on your covering.
Keep up the good work Chris and hang in there.

Wayne,
Hey. Thanks alot... This is going to be a great plane to fly. I am installing a HiMax Brushless, Castle Creations 25Amp, 1900mah li poly.... This baby should rip! I will keep you posted on everything. This covering stuff is very difficult for me. But yes, Building these planes are awesome. I also bought a J3 Cub (81" wingspan), I am building that once I get this RV-4 Complete.
Thanks again for the compliments!!!!

Chris,
Great Job! How many other kits have you built? Awesome!!! Keep the pics coming, and as others have said, the more building/covering you do, the better you will be. Are you using the light iron on film? If so, watch your temp very close, and you will do fine, heat and pull, heat and pull if you have some tough areas, wing tips, turtle decks, etc. Make sure you have a good iron and heat gun, might not need it on the low temp stuff, but I never leave home without it!! LOL The monkote trim sealing iron/ tool is nice too, for fillets around stabs, wings, etc. It comes with time, but you will enjoy it so much!!! Good luck, and Happy Flying!!!! Have a BLAST............
