For this one, it will be all stock except for skinning the turtledeck and reversing the canopy....
Ill be putting an OS .91 4-Stroke Surpass II in it....most likely...
...btw, aside from a little finishing sanding....i have the right wing done now...this isnt so hard as long as you use a little patience...
later ,,, and pics too...

btw...ive already screwed up a bit...but nothing major...
A miss-measured cut caused me to waste an extra bit of the center sheeting 3/32 balsa....so i have to buy some more to do the other wing...as i dont have enough now...nothing big...but lesson learned (or reinforced at least..) "measure twice, but once"

Is this your first kit?
I just finished mine (as my first kit) and the construction is quite easy. Good instructions and the wood pieces fit together very good.
You can frame everything up in a few long evenings, but take your time and enjoy the build.
Here's mine:

You are quite right about it going together pretty easily, I had mine framed up in three evenings. Then I spent the next week building the balsa cowl, sheeting the tutledeck and doing the covering.

Connery....it was a picture of your 4* that made me get mine....
Has to be one of the most clean ones out there...
I dont know if im going to tackle the nose yet...probably leave it stock...
I gotta get the pics of my cam...just getting the second wing-half done....
I have to say, the most satisfying part so far is sanding the center sheeting and seeing it turn into seemingly one pice of wood...
...josh
heres 3 pics to look at...one finished wing, one almost finsihed...

Wing finished, except for covering....
ANd i have to touch up a little of the fiberglass around the trailing edge....

I almost messes up on the aileron servos....if i would have done it the way i thought was right...it would have been wrong, i accidentally did it right....they both move in the correct direction (Well, actuallly, ill have the reverse them on the radio...but thats simple enough...at least they dont both move the same way....)

Also, instead of using a Y cable to connect the ailerons, if you have a computer radio you can use lile channel 2 and 5 to connect the ailerons and then you can program them to function as flaperons. Although, if you built the wing at the standard width, you definately wouldn't need flaps.

Yeah, its standard width...i dont want to build over my flying abilities yet....
I have a feeling this wont be my only 4* ... maybe a 120 next....
I may still put actual flaps on it...but short ones...6-8 inches...seen a video somewhere of it, you dont need it for landing, but they help keep the dive speed down...acting more like speed brakes than anything...

Windridr,
Check out this web page of Tom Pierce's. This is where I got all the ideas to do the mods on my 4*

ok, got the motor for it....got to break it in....construction of the fuse starts thursday....maybe have it done by the weekend....then the covering....then wait for tax return and buy radio....then let it sit for a few months and fly nexstar untill im blue in the face....

The 4* is not hard to fly at all. If you are able to take off and land well with the nexstar and and are in full control of it while flying (not the plane flying you) then you should have no problems moving to the 4*. Just move the radio gear from the nextar to the 4* and you'll be ready to go
Make sure you do some taxi runs first to get used to having to add a little right rudder on the takeoff run (necessary with all tail draggers).
