Default dynaflite se5a

I have recently purchased the dynaflite SE5A kit. Have not started building yet, but should start soon. I plan on making a few minor modifications to this kit, and am interested in what others have to say about this kit. In particular, what mods would you make, and more importantly, what engine would you recommend. I was thinking of the Saito 100, but now am wondering if I should make it a 120.

Do a search for the posts on this plane. The 100 should be plenty of motor, but then one can always throttle back. I have the kit and it is next up after a DR-1. Looks like a nice kit, not as scale as some, but good building and flying plane. Enjoy.

I just started building mine. I have completed the stab, elevator, vertical fin, rudder, and both top and bottom center sections. So far so good. Good quality balsa and die cuting. I have read that some folks think that the top wing is set to high but plan on leaving it as designed to improve flight stability. I am putting a Magnum 91 4 stk in mine. I was not very fond of the sheeting termination at the trailing edges on the top and bottom center sections but completed per design. I am a slow builder so this probably be a 1 year project for me.

Good luck!

I am a slow builder as well, and won't get started on it for about another month yet, as I need to finish up a different project first. One of the mods I intend to make is to decrease the distance between the top and bottom wings, I may change my mind when I get that far, depending on the complexity of the change.

For anyone who has built and flew this model, please give us a description of any mods you made, engine used, and flight characteristics.
