Top Flite P-51 Retracts
Hello. I am currently constructing a Top Flite P-51D Gold Edition Mustang. I have a question about my retracts. I have the CenturyJet retracts, and noticed that when retracted, the landing gear seems to "stick out" of the wing a little too much. I'm not sure if this will be a problem, but I'm concerned about the aerodynamics of the plane. In all, I'd say that the gear sticks out about 3/4 to 1" from the underside of the wing.
Does anyone have advice/opinions?
Thanks,
Joe

You will not notice any change in the aerodynamics. The power to weight ratio is to great to make a difference, but if you are going for a scale appearance a flush mount is mandatory.
Assuming you have the giant scale addition, Robart makes a set of pneumatic retracts specifically designed for the plane.
I have the kit and the retracts, just need the time to build it.
Hope this helps.

Ed

Thanks for the info. I don't have the giant edition. I have the 'regular' gold edition. The centuryjet retracts seem to fit well, they just seem bulky.
