What happened to Williams Brothers?
Hello,
I have always wanted to build an S.E. 5 or similar WWI plane from a kit. I have been discouraged in my efforts to find a manufacture of some of these planes. I recently came across a Dynaflite S.E. 5a that Tower Hobbies has for only $119.00. The problem that I have found is buying all of the Williams Brothers accessories for this kit such as the 4" Williams Brothers vintage wheels, pilot, Machine Gun, etc... Tower Hobbies lists all Williams Brothers accesories as DISCONTINUED. Did they go out of business? If not how the heck can I get a hold of their products? Thanks

KB,
Unfortunantly Williams Brothers had to close up shop. Only parts out there are what is left in inventory or limited reproductions.
You'll have to look somewhere else for your parts...

Actually if you go to that website and register you can view the post. Basically WB went out of business, a gentleman bought them out and is in the process of setting up shop in Texas. Hopefully by the end of May he will start shipping products again, he stated the wheels would be first on priority list.

Check out Balsa USA at http://www.balsausa.com/news/ . They are now carrying some alternatives to Williams including wheels made by Dubro.

I believe one of the brothers passed away and the other is in ill health. Grapevine has it that there was an attempt to sell the product line and equipment without success.

Do not despair. Someone in Texas bought up Williams Brothers, and is going back into production shortly. I believe the thread was in the Scale forum. You might search there.

RE: What happened to Williams Brothers?
I heard a lot of talk at Toledo about how "somebody" has the WB's dies and is setting up shop "somewhere in Texas" and will begin production "soon". Unfortunately, nobody seemed to know WHO "somebody" is or WHERE they were setting up or WHEN production was to begin. I don't usually put too much stock in this kind of rumor, but I, like a lot of other people, HOPE that there's something to these rumors.
Does anybody know anything for sure?

I know for sure. Daniel Brett, a member of my club, has bought everything and is setting up shop here in central Texas. Everything you need to know is in the forums at RCScalebuilder . com.

I posted a link to the thread that tells the whole story of the new owners. However, it seems that since you have to register to see the forums on RC Scale builder, they deleted my post as "not allowed".
