Hi Folks,
I have started covering my Great Planes .40 size P51-D Mustang. I am not sure if I should have the black and white invasion stripes on the bottom of the wing as well as on the top. Do these warbirds usually have them on the bottom as well? I am hesitant because I am thinking it has the potential to cause orientation problem. What did you all do with yours?
Thanks in advance.
PS. I remember the box the kit came in had a few paint schemes, but I cannot recall if this was highlighted. I had to get rid of the box in order to get the kit past the customs at the port of entry.

Go to the following forum thread, about half way down find the attachment posted by Al Blue. It is the order specifying the invasion stripes. Yes, the stripes should be on the lower surfaces, as they were intended as recognition devices for the ground forces.

Sorry I got this in late. Is this a show plane?? If not, do not put invasion stripes on the bottom. If your P 51 is like mine and you used aluminum colored covering, you'll have a problem seeing it on overcast days. Unless I'm building a true scale plane for show and flying, I always leave most markings off the bottom of the wings.
