I have a Sig Hog Bipe that I am going to start building soon, and I am looking for some ideas.
I am considering using an O.S. FS.91 II or a Saito FA100 engine. I would also like to add a smoke system( which I know nothing about) to this plane.
I have heard that I should use high torque servos. Is this true? Has any one put a pull/ pull system on this plane?
Sorry for so many questions but I want to have a plan together before I start.
Thanks for any input.

Used standard servos all-around on my HB with good results. Either engine you mentioned would give excellent performance - I had only a 70 Surpass in mine and it still flew fine. The CG is too far back on the plans. Balance the plane at the FORWARDMOST point of the indicated range for the first flights and use no more than the recommended elevator throw.

Chuck I also don't have the manual on hand anymore, but if memory serves, elevator throw should be 3/8" low rates and 5/8" high rates. Throws on ailerons figure about 3/16" to 1/4" and rudder basically all you can get.
You can always increase the throws later, but it's a good idea to set up the plane real mild 'till you get the feel for it.

No Problem get myself into these thing's too,
CG, from LE of top wing are as follow's,
3-5/8" Good place if this is your first bipe
4-1/8" Better elev response and quicker snap's
4-5/8" Aproach this with caution. Unexperienced pilot's may find this to be to extreme for their ability.

I've had 3 Hog Bibes and loved every one of them. They are fantastic flying planes. My only advice for the construction of the plane would be to use dual aileron servos and replace the connecting rods between the ailerons with 4-40 rod. I had some flutter problems until I made these mods.
You're gonna love this plane.

Almost had the Bipe in the air today, but the rains came and that ended the adventure before it could start. Oh well..another day.
When I bought the plane it was already assembled with one servo for all four ailerons. So I decided that I needed a servo with some muscle..I installed a Futaba S9402. I also put one on the rudder. If I were building it myself, I would have used two servos for the ailerons.
Thanks again!

I have a Hog Bipe in the bones that I am bashing

from fiberglass spec. and a canopy from Sig.

Very,Very,Nice! That will look GREAT in the air!
I like the flame job. Looks better without the
plastic turtle deck. I hope it flies as good as
it looks. What engine do you have in it?

I thought that might be a 91FX. The chrome muffler
extension was my clue. I'm putting a used OS 91FX
in mine too. I need the extra power to get out of
trouble sometimes. I figured it would either get
me out or further into big trouble.

This has a Saito .91. All the cabling up front is the smoke system. I love this plane. (It's secretly a "scale" hog bipe
)
