I am having a hard time choosing between a kit for a super chipmunk or a u-can-do could someone point me in the right direction. By the way this is my first time wanting to try a kit and i think if i built it myself i would have a better understanding of my plane

You most certainly will have a better understanding of your plane!!!

Don't tell anyone but I think I'm the worlds biggest ARF hater!!!

As for the kit to chose, well that's pretty subjective. If it were me I'd go for the Chippie, but then I'm more a scale modeller and I enjoy lazy aerobatics (warbird style) and I like a model that's flexible enough to allow me to fly relaxed when I feel that way whilst still being able to turn up the volume when I want to throw it around a bit.........

Anyway, that's not helping you!

Chose the kit that you have the best chance of doing a really good job of. The U-Can-Do is probably a simpler build, but if you have some sort of aptitude for making things, or at least enjoy learning, then you'll probably find the Chippie more rewarding, even if it takes a bit longer.

Hope that helps??

Hi chessmasterx,

Congratulations on wanting to build which is oine of the many aspects of the R/C addiction, one some of us find just as rewarding as flying.

I'm with Jamie on the choice. The Super Chipmunk (at least the Carl Goldberg version) is a very capable aerobat to fly the various scale pattern schedules with a 75 two stroke or 90 fourstroke, probably my second most used model. The U-Can-Do is a 3D bird that can also fly pattern.

It boils down to what type of flying you like to do.

Cheers,

Colin

Is the U Can Do not an ARF? The Goldberg Chipmunk is a wonderful kit that is only surpassed by it's flight ability. You can't go wrong with it. Good Luck, dave

The UCD is a wonderful plane, not only at 3D flying but as a sport plane as well (I have owned the 90 and the 40 size....40 being my favorite)..But seriously, nothing will be more rewarding than building that Chipmonk! You can always pick up a UCD and throw it together in a week....As a life long builder, my advice to you is: Pick up that Goldberg Chipmonk and lock yourself up in the workshop for a month or two....You'll be glad you did!!

Just one more experienced flyer saying: The Goldberg Chippy is a WINNER!

(Use a 90ish 4-stroke if you got one)
