I'm in the process of bashing my 4* 40 a bit. Started out by wanting to redo the hinges and it's turned into a project. I've already rebuilt the tail surfaces out of 1/4" balsa and thrown away the solid balsa crap. I enlarged the elevator and rudder and also counter balanced the rudder. My next project is the wing. I'm going to rebuild/enlarge the ailerons and put wingtips on. I had already taken off a bay on each side of the wing and I LOVE the way it flies. My question is about the wing tips. I don't really want to make the wings any larger. I was thinking about taking part of a bay off of each side. I'd take off the width of the tip so that the wing would be no larger than it is now. What do you guys think?

OK, you can use a piece of 1/8" balsa shaped roughly like the top of the wing rib, but with a flat bottom. Glue this piece perpendicular to the middle of the end rib and cover. Alternatively, use a solid piece of balsa. Carve and sand it to the shape you want.
