I've posted this on the "Top Flite" specific page, but would appreciate any help can get:
OK guys, I've inherited a partially built P-38 minus plans or instructions. My father started this project in the 1970's and never quite finished. All major componenets are built and covered. Then I think he started to have 2nd thoughts on actually flying it as he spent years futsing with a scale exhaust and scale retracts(neither where readily available back then so he mfg a lot himself).Needless to say he never finished. I flew with him for many years while growing up and have decide to finish this plane and fly it. I do not have the plans or the instructions so if any one can post info regarding this model I'd appreciate it. Due to my schedule, it will be about a year before I actually start this, hopefully someone will offer assistance. I will post some pics of exactly what I have in a couple of weeks as I'm out of town now for buisiness.
Thanks

I have to agree. Top Flite never did make a P-38 kit that I am aware of. As mentioned, Royal made a P-38 kit that was very popular. Royal has since gone out of bussiness and the only way to get the kits is to find them here on RCU for sale in the market place or at some of the other auction sites. There were plans available for the P-38 so it could be a scratch built plane. I happen to have a Royal P-38 kit on my shelf and if what you have is a royal kit, I can help you out with instructions and plans. Good Luck, Dave

You're right, it is a Royal kit. I still am pretty sure that I'll find the plans somewhere in the files. I appreciate your offer and when the time comes, I will let you know.
Thanks

Royal and Maratuka are the same. there are always copies of the plans listed on E-bay, for either one.

Is it legal to sell copies of this plan?

Thats a good question. It has been debated here "several" times. Both Royal and Maratuka are out of business, so who knows? Seems that a lot of the actual designers don't seem to care, from what was presented in some of the discussions, while others were upset. I don't know the laws so I can't say for sure.
However, there is no reason to take this thread off course by debateing it again here.

I'm surprised Lockheed hasn't waded in on this copy right thing. They want any kits, items like T-shirts, mugs, or any completed P-38 item sold for profit to be licensed by them and a fee/percentage paid to them. Ran into this problem many yrs. ago with a friend.
Hello everyone. Brand new here and in the past yr. have been bitten by the RC bug again after a 30 yr. break.
Does anyone know where I might be able to get, Dare I say this, A set of plans for the 2/15 Duellist that was talked about awhile back?
Thanks for any info. John

This is who I ordered from before and the plans arrived rolled and protected and were great!
Good luck.
