I just started a kit and made a bone head move by using the wrong piece of balsa for the stab's TE. I have since identified the correct piece and because of its diecut taper need to use it can I use debonder to undo the Fast & Medium CA I used to bond the incorrect piece ? Thanks in advance for your help

I think your best bet would be to carefully (surgically) cut the balsa at each glue joint with sharp no. 11 blade and/or a fine razor saw. This has worked for me, rather than use of debonder.

I haven't have any good luck with debonder,know this isn't what you want to hear but Gbee's method works every time.

I have used debonder before but after I put alittle on each joint I wait about 5 minutes and then use an xacto knife with a #11 blade and carefully cut out the joints. Easier then trying to cut through the hardened CA. Works good for me.

So far the debonder I went and purchased this evening has done nothing so I guess Gbee is right I'll just have to cut my way through. It has been pretty cold in my garage and I'm wondering it that affects the effectiveness of the debonder ?

P.S. After further consideration if anyone can use a slightly used bottle of debonder I have one for sale cheap or will trade for a few #11 exacto blades.

You folks may already know this:

CA debonder = acetone

De-bonder will only soften up the CA. It does not dissolve it. It does however work great if you accidental glue you hand to your plane. Did that last week It was tuff to open the bottle with only one hand :stupid:

I use MEK which is reactive to the glues. This was noted on many of the earlier bottles to be used if you glued your fingers together, and have been using it since as it is faster. With a eyedropper, just add a few, and then begin working the joint. It will come apart within 1/2 minute. Let the joint dry, and glue in the correct part.

Anything less seems to be submissive.

Sands, MEK is an abbreviation for methyl ethyl ketone.

It might be just as easy to get a sanding block, and sand the piece you glued on to the right angle.
