Default heating the front windshield before gluinging place

I had a hard time to get the cardboard template to stay in place using masking tape while I formed the front of the wing that goes over the FF former made of ply. The tape kept letting go because the cardboard wanted to spring back straight. I got the cardboard damp and then taped it back and it stayed. Now it time to glue the windshield in place. I thought abought adding a small amount of heat with the heat gun and forming it before I glue it in place. Has anyone done this or is there a better way? I use formula 56 to glue on canopies and the use pin-stripping to make it a clean look. Thanks in advance!!!
