Im trying to locate the throttle linkage hole in the firewall of a 1/4 scale Sig Cub. I want to mount it sideways which puts the throttle linkage coming through the formers on top of the nose, which is already sheeted and completely enclosed.
Didnt see this coming.
Has anyone else used this engine-plane combination with the sideways mounting?
Ive been using this engine on a 4* and will replace it with a new OS 2stroke when Im done building the Cub.
It is my 1st 4 stroke and I love it, it runs perfectly, starts easily and sounds great, though, I understand they can be cantancerous when inverted and I dont want any extra hastle.
I can fish the cable & sleeve through if I have to, just wondering what yall did?

Are you having trouble getting the holes in the formers, or trouble fishing the cable housing through? If you don't have any yet, buy a set of aircraft drill bits (about ten inches long). They are great for drilling through firewall and formers in a straight line.

Hey Flap on the Saito you can turn the carb 180 deg and give your self and inch or so (this may help)
All I have are Saitos and NONE of them ever give me trouble running installed inverted it's a myth .
Tank hight is important but other than that they all run great, and in that Cub I bet you won't have to chop up the cowl.
Give it shot

Den B's right. You can invert the engine, if it's not too late, and save yourself some headaches. I had the same set-up once with no problems at all. In fact,I've had 4 150's mounted inverted with no problems. You won't hardly have to cut the cowl at all either.

I did a Balsa USA 1/4 scale and had the Sato 150 inverted, only thing I had to do was cut and weld the exaust manafold to a 90 degree....that way it stuck out the bottom of the cowl..., made a fake right side and left side engine that was hollow and open in the front glued over holes in the cowl for cooling air to go into and a fairly big cutout in the bottom of the cowl....worked like a charm....
Inverted flat spins, short hovers....and a whole lot of other things it wasn't designed to do. (Grinnnnnnn)
