Craft Air Firebird

What can anyone tell me about the Craft Air Firebird 40 Kit?
I may be getting one at a decent price. A few searches
have not turned up much information.
A few pictures would be nice...

A couple of pictures or any other info would be great.
All I have to go by for now is a picture of the box.
Also wondering what engines have been used on this plane.

New Photos of CraftAir Firebird. This plane is a smooth flyer. Never had a close call all the time I have owned it. It is 15 years old and still in good shape. Capt,n

Thanks a lot for posting the pictures. Helps out a lot.
Nice looking plane.
Now my big problem is whether to build the Firebird
this winter or a Juno Tsunami. I had already decided
on the Tsunami when the Firebird became available.
When I build it I will do a series of build photos like
I did last year when I built an Ultra Sport 60 from
the RCM plans.

I think I would add more area to all controll surfaces. It is to tame the way it is. It will do very good knife edge for sure. Like I say....smooth airplane. Capt,n

and essentially no longer exists. What remains is a very few of the Dynaflite
kits and one wonders how much longer those will even be available.
Its a shame since Craft Air had some very fine kits.
I didnt get around to building the Firebird yet. I opted for a Sig Hog Bipe
this time around.

I had a firebird back in 1986-87ish. I loved that plane. flew it for many years till the experation date arrived. When I tryed to get another, I was told they no longer existed. Then in 1996, I found one for sale in the classifieds in RC REPORT. I called the guy, (his name was Ron) & as it turned out, he and a few others were the original designers of that plane, & the one he had was the last one of the last run made. We talked for a while & after I built it, I tracked him down again,(he moved) & sent him some photo's as we had agree'd to. I still have this plane & I still love flying it when ever I can. Very smooth in the air. I had a super tiger abc 45 in my first one years ago. & now I have an O.S. 70 4-stroke in it. Converted it to tail dragger for extra prop clearance. Added 3/4 inch to the rudder & she flys like an arrow. Vertical is unlimited. Wieghts in at 6 1/4 pounds. As soon as I dig up my pictures, (I moved too) I'll post some. may even have to take new photos. You will not be disappionted with that plane. If interested in selling it, I'd love to buy it.................Bill Phillips
