Hello,
I decided to post this in the kit section because there are not many people viewing the pylon racing section.
Anyway, I am "thinking" of building a pylon racing type airplane this winter but I don't know where to buy a kit, I've only found ARFs. I want it to be in the 70-75'' range, but it really depends on the specific airplane I want, which I'm not quite sure yet. I don't want any warbirds (p51-at6 etc). Other then that I am open for ideas. I guess I really don't want a shoestring either, I really don't like the looks that much. Look at the top airplane on this site: http://www.usrainfo.org/kitmfg.htm. That is the style of airplane I am looking for. I hope that that is enough info, if not let me know. I'm not really interested in scratch building but I want a kit.
Thanks a bunch!

Why not just buy one of the kits you linked to at the racing forum?
Here is the basic giant racing Dominator from Lanier:

It's not pretty, but it's fast and easy to build. Probably a good start for your first entry into racing the larger size planes.
Here is a link to www.darrolcady.com . He has some nice pylon airplanes, but kinda spendy.

Rcpilet,
The reason I wouldn't buy any of those from that site is they are way out of my price range. Plus they are a too big, no room. I am not interested in spending $3000 on a really nice big race plane, if I could I would though. I would want a nice scale one, preferably all wood. Also, I'm not interested in racing, I just like the looks of the planes and the speed.
difficulty to fly isn't a factor either, I can handle that.
P.S. for anyone else, I do not want an ARF.
Thanks for the info, though

Well, you're not going to find a plane like that cheap. They don't exist. Those planes are just expensive.
And trying to find one in a kit is going to be almost impossible. The world is dominated by ARFs.
Maybe you could buy a GP Minnow or a GP Little Tony ARF and strip the covering off. Beef it up and glue it up nice, then recover it to your liking. It's an idea. Think of it as an ARC. Just add some glue to the weak areas and then cover it how you like. Slap a big motor on it and go fast.
If you want fast and cheap that looks scale, then go buy one of those little foam park flyers thats a ducted fan or prop jet. They cost under $200 and they do over 80MPH with a brushless motor and a good lipo. Thats smokin' fast for something that has a 25" wingspan and weighs 12 ounces.

I think Hostetler's Nemesis resized to about 72" to 75" with appropriate power would be the bee's knees as they say. You would have to cut your own wood and fab your own parts but that is what it seems you are after.

Go look in any plans section. You can have the plans cut to A kit or cut it yourself. I buy A lot of plans from MAN then redraw them or change the design A little to suit what I want. It's cheap and easy and you will fins A great selection. Kinko's can even change the size for you on there printers.

I really like hostetler's nemesis, and it would be neat having a 75'' one. Has anyone done this? Precision cut kits sells the original size as a kit, and I have heard that they do a nice job, but like I said it is too big. Engines.....I was thinking Jett. The problem with building a kit is that it is just more expensive, you could buy an ARF for just the price of covering on some of these things, but I really want to. Anyway, I'm really open to ideas at this time, so keep them coming. I don't like the Q500 type airplanes, ugly[:'(]. I am, though, considering the Cermark Alley Cat w/ a Jett 90. I just am not sure at the moment, I have all winter.
