Default Finished my Stick

I started this from plans about 16 years ago and got side tracked along the way so I just finished it up this winter. It was built from Midwest plans. It is called a Giant Sweet-n-Low Stick. Back in the 80's this was one of the largest aircraft seen anywhere. Today it looks just about average size. I took some liberties with the plans and changed the tail section to look more conventional and added flaps so I could program in the CROW effect. I move the wing servos out in the wing, the plans had torque rods, and I put the other servos in the tail like most modern aircraft to help with balance. The landing gear is a hand-me-down from a 50cc size Edge and the wheels are a little big, but I think it looks pretty good.

To keep it looking old I installed my old Saito 270 twin that I purchased back around 1985. With this engine it weighs in at a hefty 18 pounds dry but with around 1800 sq. in. of wing area, I am sure it will fly just fine. As soon as the weather breaks, a maiden is in my future.

Any way, I just wanted to show this off because it might be my last, totally built from scratch, airplane. I don't know if i have another 16 years to give....

It's quite the stick - lots of mods to it, which is where the stick was at it's finest - very versitile!

I really like the low wing with the twin canopies - looks good! [sm=thumbs_up.gif]

I just wanted to report that my modified Sweet-N-Low Stick is now an airplane. I made several flights and everything went perfect. It flys like a trainer on low rates but gets a lot more fun on high rates and ailerons and flaps working together. Landing is easy, just keep the engine about 1/4 throttle and bring it in. I still need to adjust the elevator for more down when crow is activated but overall, I am pleased. Here is a picture of my Stick and a GP Giant stick sitting side by side for comparison. The difference between a low wing and a high wing is very apparrent.
