Default Sig 1/4 Scale Cip Wing Cub

I have been building on a Sig Cub and trying to decide what I wanted to do with the 80" plus wing. I decided to make it 3 pieces with a removable center section. CNC cut plywood ribs and plywood spar carry throughs. The wings are held tight against the center section with 4-40 socket head cap screws through the center section and into each outboard wing section. You can see in one of the photo's the aluminum tube that the cap screw is placed into to guide it into position and then it is secured using a long ball end socket driver. Almost to the cover stage.

Very nice!
I thought a lot about this too and eventually decided to go for the one-piece, especially for fear of possible weight increase.

What engine do you plan using?

I am going to use the OS 1.2 4 stroke. Should be plenty of motor. How about a weight on your wing. I have not cut out my ailerons yet, so if you have not it should get us close. I suspect weight is not an issue for such a large wing area.

Actually I have progressed since the photo, the wing is not yet covered but has the ailerons cut, hinged, horns, two servos, and the cables, all installed.
Ready to fly apart from the covering.
Weight is 1100 grams, that's 2.4 Lb in your system

bps,
Weight should not be an issue, my Cub was built per the plans with a one piece wing. It is a bit of a pain to transport but not that big of an issue. I am flying mine with a Magnum 120 and it is a perfect match for power in my opinion. The plane is rock steady and looks superb in the air. I added Robart gear and covered the plane is Sig Coverall and painted with Latex. My plane is 3 years old now and looks as good as ever. With all the extra details I added the plane still came out under 14lbs.
Good Luck!!

I will get a weight on my wing today and post it. I have not added the servo mounts or cut the ailerons out yet. Plane will get Sig Koverall and latex craft paint in the Hazel Sig colors, Thinking about using the Warbird Colors topcoat to seal the latex. I will be using glow fuel. I usualy seal with Minwax clear polyurethane but since this has a lot of white I need to find something else that will not yellow. My experience with the water based poly such as Minwax Polycrylic has not pleased me. I want fuel proof not somewhat resistant.

Jeb,
I used Nelson's Hobby Specialties Clear Gloss on my Cub for fuel proofing and it worked great. I think it is the same composition as the Warbird Colors Clear.
