Call BTE himself at 800-557-4470. Bruce designed the Sig FourStar series. The Venture 60 incorporates his later improvements over what was already and still is a great model, flown and loved far & wide for years.

Obviously the 40, 60 and 120 series of the 4* are very similar and there wouldn't really be much work going from either the 120 or the 40 to the 60.
But if you look on the box of the 4*60 kit it does say Harold Hester.
On another note, isn't Harold Hester the husband of Hazel Sig? Maybe this has somethin' to do with it!

Venture 60 in da house
I am in the middle of building mine now. Just started flying in November with my LT 40 ARF. The Venture is my first kit. The quality of the wood is fantastic. I have only built the fuse so far, but I did not have to sand or cut anything to make the parts fit.
I will definitely build one of his other kits in the future.

I purchased one from Bruce Tharpe at the Pasadena AMA model show. Very nice person.
The kit is well thought out. It has all the modifications that he wanted to do to the 4Star 40. I,m looking forward to building it.

I fly this plane also. I recently had "Brain Fade" when I was too close to the ground and a rebuild was necessary. Bruce was very helpfull and prompt with my part needs.
I was able to get him by E-Mail [email protected]. I think it still works.
You are going to love this plane.

Is this a second model, or maybe a third?

Venture 60
Kitbasher,
I just completed the Venture 60. I'm waiting for the weather to take it on it's maiden flight.
The kit went together very nicely. As mentioned above, the pieces fit very good. It's easy to build and the quality of the wood is excellent too.
The only mods I made were to use dual aileron servos in the wing and placed the elevator and rudder servos under the stabilizer. I used Hitec mighty mini's in the back. And after placing a Saito 91 up front, It balanced out perfectly with no additional weight to add.
I don't know yet, but I have seen other people using a different tail wheel assembly on this kit other than what's supplied. I used what was suggested...I'll wait to see how well it holds up.

Venture 60
I just flew mine for the first time a couple of week ago. It flys very well and the kit was a joy to build. I liked it so much I bought his DeltaVortex also.
I made a couple of modifications. I shortened the wing by 6 inches and used two aileron servos instead one. The OS61FX has plenty of power.

Hi Guys!
I scan these forums every once in a while, so was pleasantly surprised to come across this thread. First of all, THANK YOU to all of you with kind words about my kits. I put a lot of effort into them and it's nice to know that's still appreciated by modelers out there.
On the FS-60; Yes, I did the 40 and 120, the 60 was done after I left Sig. No, I'm not thrilled that Harold put his name on the design. OTOH, it wasn't a simple enlargement of the 40; it was one of Sig's first laser-cut kits, and it has a bunch of intricately cut shear webs and diagonal ribs, built-up tail, etc... Not all necessary IMHO, and it resulted in a bird that typically builds about a pound heavier than the Venture 60.
BTW, Hazel Sig married Maxey Hester after the death of Glen Sigafoose. Harold is Maxey's son, one of five children from a previous marriage. Hazel has no children.
Getting back to the V60, I'm happy to help as best I can. The phone # and e-mail addresses mentioned earlier are correct. Gonna have to get a website - it's on the "To Do" list...
Kitbasher, the common mods have all been listed. Many builders shorten the wing by one rib bay on each side and use dual aileron servos for crisper roll response. Hope you enjoy your V60 kit!
