Default Aileron Servos For .40 Size Plane

Building a tiger two and want to put the servos in the wing. Plane comes with torque rods and i dont like the setup. Want to use Hitec servos and the standard JR servos are too large. The ailerons are not large but what servo will work best?
Thanks for the info
Steve

You could use something like the Hitec 225's. I'd spring for the metal gears, but that's just my preference.

If you get a mini servo with around 30 oz-in of torque you should be fine. I've been using Futaba 3002's. They're fairly expensive BB metal gear servos. They've developed a lot of slop in them in 2-3 seasons of flying and I've been told that's normal for metal gears. I won't buy them again, but they have a lot of torque. They aren't the fastest servo.

I've heard good things about Hitec servos but I don't own any yet. I do plan to buy a dozen or so Hitec mini servos when I have the opportunity. I could use them already. I have several of their receivers and I'm very pleased with them.

h@h racing:

I will put a second on the Hitec HS-225BB servos. I have quite a few in service, very pleased.

They are equivalent to "Standard" sevos in power, and are both smaller and lighter.

But I'll disagree with JWN - metal gears are to be avoided. THey wear and get sloppy, and in a crash I'd rather buy a cheap gearset than have to repair/replace something more expensive.

Bill.

Default Standard Servos

I've built a lot of Tiger 2's over the years. I always used standard servos in the wings. Just install them laying on their side and they work just fine. The mounts are easy to build.
