Thanks for the encouragement,
I hope I live long enough to see it fly.
This thing is taking a looooong time to build.
Here is a picture I found with the same bottom side as I want to do mine in.
Cool plane, hope it flys good.

Hello Dave and all you guys out there in the RC Universe! My name is Jim at Moto-tek Aircraft Designs and I designed the F-117 Stealth Fighter kit that is being built here. About seven years ago I manufactured 100 of these F-117 RC Kits and have since then sold them all. The Blueprints & Manual are still available and I am selling them on ebay where most of the kits were sold as well. You can also purchase them there or directly from me for $29.99 plus shipping. Contact at ([email protected]) for further details. I put up some pictures of the prototype F-117 that is still flying today and a few pictures of the B-2 Flying Wing that never made it to production due to the costs of producing these kits. Both planes fly very well and look awesome. Keep up the good work Dave, it's look'in good!

Hi Jim,
Excellent photos! I really like that B-2 also.
It's always nice to have the guy in charge around in case questions come up that I can't answer.
Taking my time on this one, should be fun in the air.
I better get some more done,
Dave

Did some more covering on the fuse and put the windows on as well.
I took a new photo so guys could see it come together.

Mototek 454,
Thanks for the video of it flying, looks like it flies very stable.
I may get to fly this one later this year if I keep working on it.
Too bad only 100 were made, this is a very unique kit.
Dave

Dave...Can you post the link to the video for everyone to enjoy? I'm currently building a Sig Kougar that I started in October '07. I've been posting my build over in the Sig Kougar build thread. Our annual club build contest is the first Wednesday in May. All that left ofr me is covering.

Building is both fun and tedious. The good thing about building at least one plane, is when you dork it you can repair it if it's not to bad.

Here is a photo after one wing servo installed and that wing covered.
Non-traditional build for sure, but it is unique.
Engine is ready to mount and it is coming together slowly.

Heres a couple pics showing the top and bottom of the plane.
Almost ready to mount the engine and radio, should be close to flight in a few weeks.
My Iron is sitting on the bottom to give reference to the size of the plane.
I'll make 50 stars and place on the bottom side in the blue area.
Top side is near completion as well.
I'll post more as I get there

back at ya dave!! i'm gonna try covering the top in panels.. . i'll post pics if you wanna see
the nightstick has a 29+inch wingspan. and about 30 inch length. i haven't weighed it yet but when its done i'll let ya know...
i think the most important factor is gonna be puttin the c.g. right where it has to be and keeping her skinny. no added weight anywhere.

Panels is the way to go for sure!!
I think I have around 36 different pieces (panels) on mine.
The bottom has 13 stripes and one blue patch, plus 50 stars.
Top was terrible, around 22 pieces (panels) there.

You'll like it after it's done much better than during the covering process.

Weight is always important, I'm around 5 pounds with engine and servos added.
I'm have a 53" wing and a OS .46 pumper engine, yet it feels very light.
Thanks for the interest
Dave

i'm gonna cover it in white. . then spray it in flat black, w/ grey stars and bars.. maybe a few panel lines and stuff. nothing to great i just want it to fly well and stable.

Every delta I have ever flown were real decent in the air.
No weird stuff, etc.
Your painting idea should look good.

i've flown strykers and a few other combat style wings so i dont see any problems other than the fact that i scratch built this thing and the others were a.r.f.s !!!! i hope i can build as well as 10 year old chinese laborers!!

1012,
What are you using for control surfaces?
This thing has Elevons and a set of rudders.
From past experience rudders are worthless on a delta.

I am ready to put the stars on the bottom and this weekend glue the Stabs in place.
You'll probably beat me done as I am so busy with life.
I do see it flying this summer and that's better than what I thought would happen.
Enjoy,
Dave

Pic #1 is the bottom after the stars are applied.

Pic #2 is of the front area with the engine mounted.

Engine is an OS SF.46-P ABC

Ready to glue the stabs on next.

Pic #3 is of a real F-117 from an air show.

It's not perfect, but I can't live with it.

Dave

There were plans for a F-117 several years ago in RCM... one guy in our club built it and it crashed on the first flight. It had a unique (strange) feature in that it had some type of elevator thing in the back. The article even said that this necessary to get it to fly. I hope you have better luck because you are doing a great job building this unique aircraft. Good Luck, I'll be checking back to see how thing's are going.

Thank you Ober,

The kind words are appreciated.
I will make sure all is fine before first flight.

I have Jim the designer here to help if I hit a snag.

This plane uses Elevons for lift and same for turning.
Rudders are there but may be ineffective or of little use.

I appreciate the concern, I have seen the prototype fly and it looked like a trainer both on take offs and landings.
I can only hope for the same for this one.

Dave

Man Dave, you pick some cool planes to build. I have never seen the stealth before. I saw a vid of a turbine version that crashed, but flew great. Good job on the building, looks great. I'll be watching all your build threads for sure. Any expected date on the maiden? Post pics and/or vids if you can. I would love to see this one fly. You have a very good taste in planes and engines. Can't beat the SF Pumper......
Peace, Reg

Thanks Reg,
Glad you like my stuff.
Most guys don't get it, but I build stuff that's different, always have.
I will put it up later this year, but lately I been swamped with work.
This part of the year gets hectic at best.
I'll post pics and or a movie.
Thanks,
Dave

looks great... except one thing... i think that big prop and engine in the nose will cause it to lose all its stelthiness?

LOL,
Hilda is a riot
Used to see them when Byrons was a big draw here to Central Iowa. They had those, the stop signs, the mowers, etc.
I'd like to get the flying lawn mower.
Can't wait to see your stealth go.
Love the witch dude!!
