Default Elder 40 Front Cowl

Hey all, i was wondering if there is a secret to bending the wood areound the front of the cowl... i read to soak it in water.. will this make it flexible enough to bend.. also can I glue it down while still wet or will i have to wait to glue it. THANKS

I have used a mix of rubbing alcohol and water, but find windex works better for me. Spray it, rub it in with fingers, bend a little at a time. Don't rush it. If you use CA glue, you can glue it while still wet.

I took the long way here. I soaked 1/16th sheeting with alcohol (dries quickly) then formed it in place holding it down with tape, etc. Once it is dry the wood pretty much holds its shape and is easy to glue down with wood glue. The next layer of 1/16th is layered to the first with the same wood glue.

Takes time but you end up with a very strong sheeting section.
