Has anyone here built a .40 size cap 232 from great planes?
Has anyone here built a .40 size cap 232 from great planes?
He flew his first on electric, so it's built light. Then he replaced the electric power with a .46, and is still flying it. At least, he was at the end of last fall. I liked it, so I decided to put one in the queue. I'll get at it after I finish a few others.
Best wishes,

Follow this link to an interesting cap 232 mods and building:

I am flying this fine Cap with a Saito 91 and I am using miniservos. It does fly great and it is one of my favorites.
Have fun on your building.

I'm currently finishing one of these models. I ordered a fiberglass specialties and fixing to mount it up here in a week or two (we're extremely busy right now) and hoping to have it ready this spring as well as the giles and decathlon. been very straight forward build so far for me and i chose to put dual aileron servo's in and larger ailerons on it.

I built one a few years ago and gave it to a flying buddy, Its a nice flying plane but I did away with the supplied gear and went with some from a extra 300, I beefed up the gear area too. also added a servo to each wing for the ailerons other than that its built to the book. I would get a glass cowl & pants for it if I was going to build another. Even with renforcment the ABS started cracking after a while.
He uses a 50 SX-Slimline muff for power and it does quite well. I flew it with a 46 FX and a slimline muffler .
This kit is straight foward with no supprises just follow the instructs.

Good luck on yours.

Is your cap a Nitro Models ARF?
If so, you should not need any plans, there is a nitro models forum, take a look there and ask for help they will help for sure.

Thnks Al for the info. I tried at Nitro but not what Im looking for. Let me ask you. Maybe I'll get lucky. The model is the Cap 232 50 (Citizens). It staes that it needs 4 channels and 6 servos. I explained to them 5 servos are counted for but the 6th? 2 for arleins 1 for rudder 1 for tial and 1 for throttle. Where the 6th comes in is beyond me.
I asked them on there chat with tech. She didn't have an answer. Might you or anyone else out there know. All the help I can get would be useful.

Check out the fuse tail, it maybe has two servo openings (now covered with monokote or what ever material that they used to cover the plane) if it has two openings, one at each fuse side, then it means that you should use two servos for the elevator (touch only the tail side and try to figurate out if there is a possible servo opening there). Also check if each elevator moves with out moving the other elevator half (I mean that both halves are not connected).
If appears to exist those openings on both sides of the fuse at the tail part of the fuse, then it means that you should use two servos for elevators. Many modern models come this way. If you do not have a computer radio you could use a Y harness to connect them to your receiver.
If it happens that there is not any opening for those servos then the kit should contain enough rods to connect the tail parts from the servo location, let's imagine that there is a servo location just above the main wing. Then there must be enough room to install 3 servos (throttle, rudder and elevator) but if it happens that the elevator are separated, then should be 3 rod exits at the tail of the fuse.
Let me know what you are finding there, and then we will move to the next step.
I will be happy to help.

I checked carefully for any openings in body on the back of the fuse, but negitive. I do have some plans here for this model now, but they are to vage for me. I have a servo tray in front the fuse for the 3 servos....elevator rudder and thottle. My guess is for sure it only has the one for the elevator. Also I have the horseshoe type rod that connects both sides of the elevator togeather to work with the 1 servo. I have the plans in (my pictures) saved. Would you like me to email them to you. I do appreciate this help.
You know as I was checking for those openings on the fuse I noticed a in one of the sealed plastic packets a nose wheel axal. Something just don't seem right. This plane has no nose wheel. I'm not rushing into nothing yet here. Here's a page from the elevator page they gave me.
