From: Center of the Flyover States,
I just ordered a Great Planes Venus, which has wing covering on the bottom, that is salmon colored. I have black covering on all of my planes with white center striping, which shows up on all sky conditions so I want to change the Venus. It is critical that the wings are straight so does anyone know any tips on how to cut off the original Monokote and reapply new without adding in a twist? I know others have done this to this ARF.
.......Didn't know whether to post this in ARF's, Q&A, Pattern or here so I hope someone with the answer sees this!
Thanks

Hi,
You just have to find the gaps where two pieces of covering meat each other. Heat the covering and gently pull of all the covering. If you have to really pull hard it means that it istn't heated enough. If you warm it enough it will come of easily.

Something to keep in mind when re-covering ARFs is that you will likely void the warranty, at least with a Great Planes. I never thought about it until I removed the covering on an ARF from a different manufacturer and found problems. When I contacted them and asked them to replace the wing panels I was told that since I stripped the covering I had voided the warranty. When I purchased the GP Wagstaff Extra I was thinking of making some covering changes so it would be at least a little different. Called Great Planes first to see if they also said the warranty would be voided, and they did.

Rather than replacing the covering, just lay new covering over the old. It is fairly easy to do this on a wing without introducing bubbles.
Since you are not removing the old covering, I would guess the warranty would remain?
