I am building the RV-4 and before I get to far into the wing..... What about those flaps, to do or not to do, that is the question.
Any suggestions? I am using the Magnum .52 four stroke. I had thought about using the small servos for the flaps to help keep the weight down, say the Hitec HS-81's. I'm using them on my LMH and they are a tough servo to say the least. Any input would be very much appriciated.

I built mine with flaps, you don't really need them, but there fun none the less, the servos are not going to make a big difference in how this thing flys standards will work perfectly.

I read where some one had built the aileron and flap section and left them as one piece for each half of the wing. This gives you a strip aileron. Builder said that the aileron response was super. Might be an option. By the way how was your wood selection in your kits?

I personally would not build them as strip ailerons, that would be really too much. Like I said before you don't need the flaps but they are fun and give you the experience and knowledge about how to use the flaps, If you dont want them just go ahead and cut them in half and glue the flaps in place(after all is covered). I found some of the plywood not to my liking but most was ok, do a search here on rcu you will find lots of helpful information.
