4*60 canopy questions

i’m trying to figure out a way to install the canopy on 4*60.
My problem with the desired setting is where the covering meets the canopy (last picture).
I want to match the rear of the canopy to the back plate not to go over it, and if possible the front of the canopy not to get further of the cockpit.
I see at least three options here, none of them I really like…
1. cover the cockpit area and screw the canopy and glue stripe the gap.
- the gap is asking for problems.
2. trim and glue the canopy permanently.
- this makes covering hard and cant see how to smooth it.
3. balsa canopy unit screwed to the fuse
- this makes the canopy very short and small because I cant let the canopy go over the top front fuse.
Thanks
Alex

Alex, The last picture didn't come through so I'm still a bit fuzzy on the end results you're after, but I'll add my .02 here. I think I've heard that some people turn the canopy around for a different look. Also, I've had great results gluing the canopy in with canopy glue and going over the seams with pinstiping tape from the auto paint suppliers. Here's a pic of my Venture 60 with the treatment-hope this helps.

Take a look at kmots’s thread Four Star 60 building. By a 54 year old beginner. Post #216 goes into detail about cutting and dying the canopy. Pale Rider posted a photo on 4 Star 40 building has commenced! thread post #81 (http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=1946922) that shows the pieces that were trimmed from the canopy, post further down details the Rit dye method.
For my 4 Star (http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=6888862) I cut out the canopy per stock configuration, then, holding the canopy along side the fuselage, I lowered the front of the canopy until the top of the canopy was inline with the angle of the turtle deck and cut the front of the canopy to fit around the front deck of the fuselage, then trimmed the sides to allow for about ¼” overhang. I applied hot air to the front of the canopy to form it around the front deck. Dyed the canopy with black Rit dye and attached the canopy with silicone and small screws.

Thanks guys i checked it,
What 54 year old did with the canopy is what I want to avoid.
Like the stock and the ARF the canopy is attached with screws and taped to the covering, I want some how to glue it permanently to the fuse but then i have a small problem with covering at that point of contact.

I have followed this sense you posted it, just wasn't sure what it is you are asking. If you don't want to glue or screw it down then I have used colored electrical tape and auto trim tape in different colors I get at the Dupont store. It's easy and I have even been lucky enough to get the tape in the colors of my covering.

I must be missing something. Trim it the way you want. Cover the fuselage. Glue with canopy "56" glue and you are done. Permanently attached.

The canopy glue looks white in the bottle like Elmer's glue but it never get completely hard and absorbs the vibration. It seems to last fo a long time. I have a model with a windshield years old and it is still attached the same as the day I put it on.
