Default Need help with 4*60 covering.

Hello,

In the pictures you see the tail of a four star 60.
My problem is with this part of the stab under where the metal wire connects the two pieces of the elevator, how do I cover that (arrows in first picture)?
It must be covered otherwise it will soaked with oil very fast.
I can take of the tristock fin support covering…

Thanks
Alex

You won't be able to cover over the metal rod, but you can cover the area underneath. Cut a small strip of covering and slide it in behind the rod, and then fold it over the top and bottom of the horizontal stabilizer. Then use your covering iron to secure that portion that went over the stab. You can use the tip of the iron and seal down the bit of covering you can get to above and below the rod. This will be more than enough to seal this area.

As hindsight areas such as this should be covered before installing the elevators.

Hope this helps

Ken

Ditto RC Ken... On areas like that , I cover before assembly.

Another trick to make things easier is to cover your triangle stock , that is bracing the elevator to the stab before gluing it down ...carefully trim the gluing surfaces after they are covered, then glue down the tri-stock. I don't know if you have the small trim iron or not. But it is VERY VERY handy for jobs like you are doing now...
