Now I know why ARF's are so popular.

I know right!! It can be a pain sometimes, but I still love to build.

Here are a few pics of the progress. I have installed the retracts, some of the radio gear for testing, and have the wing mounted. I will get to work on it more today, my plans for today are to install the fin and stab, finish sanding the fuse, link up the main gear to the servo, and hopefully start covering the fuse if I work hard.

Dont rush to start the covering, its all in the prep work.

Yes, prepwork....yuck.....the not-so-fun part of building. Believe me, I do have to slow myself down at times but it is hard to when nearing the completion of the build.

Have not worked on the Learjet in a week. Been doing other little projects that kept me busy all week.

I dont have much to talk about either, I was ready to cover the fuse and had a minor set-back due to a clumsy GF. I still love her though..

OK, I am back on track after the mishap. I have the cowl blocks mounted, firewall and fuel tank compartment fuelproofed, tail installed and hinged ( I went with Robart #307 hinges for all control surfaces). I still need to build wheel wells in the wing, install the belly pan, and some wing sanding. After these things are completed I will start covering.

I've been side-tracked by the uproar. I got rid of a lot of extra covering I have laying around the last two weeks working on it. I've also been doing a lot more full scale flying so that has resulted in a lot less build time.

Tomorrow, I have nothing planned, I'll get back to work on the Learjet then.

The uproar looks good! I have had to go back to work also, so my only time is on the weekends and there is not much of that.

Checked in on your build and hawkpilot's too. I can tell the Lear is a lot of work, but the planes you guys are building are going to be really impressive. Even the ARF guys who have never built a plane will see the complexity and amount of work you've put into your birds. Can't wait to see them done and flying!

Like you said its definitely one you have to be in the right frame of mind for. Most building relaxes me. This one is difficult enough I have to relax first before I can build on it.

Today I got back to work on the LJ. We had 12 inches of snow last night and this morning so work was cancelled. Im off tomorrow as well. I am fitting the wing and aligning it. Next I'll fiberglass the wing joint and go back to working on the engine pylons.

I fiberglassed the wing joint last night. It didnt come out as nicely as I would like but oh well, its not going to be seen when the wing fairing is put on anyway, its strong and thats what matters.

I started cutting out the plastic engine nacelles and tip tanks and couldnt help but tape them in place and take a picture to see what how it looks with them in place.

Im suprised that the only thing that holds the flimsy plastic engine nacelles on is a little epoxy on the inner half of the engine nacelle and one tiny screw on the outside half. Seems like the weakest parts on an otherwise very stout design.

Lookin Good!!! I might get to work on mine tomorrow if there is too much wind to fly.

Sorry for being away, well both of you are doing beautiful job on your LJs, looking good.

Here is how i had mine dry fitted back then, thats me pops holding it proudly....

Don't worry about the epoxy joint on the plastic engine nacelles, if you epoxy them from both inner sides, at the entrance of the slot and other end, it will be very strong hold. Plus you can add bit more epoxy on the outside of the pylon slot and fill it with filler to make proper fairing as i did to mine. No need to add screw for outer side!, it will look ugly...

I have accomplished a little on mine, I am working on covering the fuse......build had to slow down as I had to go back to work...with 12-14hr days there is little time for planes, which sucks. Hopefully I will have more time soon. I did add another plane to the hangar, a 25% Yak.

Looking great, looks ready to cover to me.

My build has slowed just because other things have been higher on the priority list lately. Rest assured that its still slowly coming along.

You chose the best engine for this Lear, OS55AX should rip the sky on this model. Now youneed to come up with just DYNAMIC scheme!!!...

Time to work on the Learjet is still few and far between. In the last week I have glued on one piece of wood and sanded for about 15 minutes. Going to try to spend at least a couple hours on it friday.

A few update pics, I also have little time to build. We need to win the lotto so we can build our planes.

Very nice, I like the blue and white. Are you using ultracote or monokote? I will be using Ultracote on mine.
