Precision cut kits?

I bought his Vaillancourt L-19 1/4 scale kit a couple of years ago, working on it now. Excellent quality wood, and this particular kit is laser cut, parts fit has been very good, with a very few pieces needing a bit of "massaging" to fit well; some of this is also my own doing, as I have modified the plans in a few places for the sake of scale fidelity. Larry said that he hoped to have the most popular plans models all laser cut, but rare ones would be hand cut. I found him most helpful when I talked with him prior to buying my kit. As I said, this was a couple of years ago, but all I have ever heard about PCK is positive. What plans/plane are you thinking of?
Look at my build thread in the Warbirds/warplanes forum. The first few entries show many of the parts. The box was so well packaged I wondered if all the pieces had been included (box seemed too small for the size of the plane) All pieces well marked, bundled together, and inventoried. Everything was there, plenty of sheeting, all the sticks and proper sizes, etc.

David Andersen just released his plans for a 1\5 scale TA 152. 114" wing span. I have always wanted a larger one of these and this is perfect for 50cc engine. I am interested in building this for scale competition. I am just not sure he will be offering this kit but he already cuts the smaller 1\6th scale.
I am very excited to get this project going but it will take a while to complete. It is good to hear about the organization of the package. That saves a lot of time when actually building. that is my one complaint with Balsa USA. they just throw the wood in the box.
Thanks for the reply and I have looked at a good portion of your thread.

When I talked to Larry Katona (PCK), he told me that he could cut most any kit as long as he had a set of plans (you send yours to him). He said that there were many very popular plans from guys like Hostettler, Ziroli, Vaillancourt, etc that he kept in stock, so an order for one of those was pretty quickly filled (I got my kit within 2 weeks, it was one of the popular ones). Custom cutting took longer. Just give him a call, or e-mail and he'll work it out with you.

I have built several kits by PCK and for the most part they have all been good to excellent. The quality of the wood is usually very good and all is very well packed. You do need to take into account that he cuts from the designers plans which may sometimes have small errors. Lately I am steering more towards plans since many kit manufacturers have gone out of business. PCK is providing a service that many of us can't afford to lose. While there are other suppliers of kits I have never been dissatisfied with any purchase from PCK and am currently planning several kit purchases before pricing gets too out of hand for my meager hobby budget. With retirement looming around the corner I want to make sure I have enough to keep me busy for a long time to come.

That is good to hear. I just need to find out what my kit will cost. So what has been the typical lead time. I really do not mind having it take a while so long as it is stated up front.
