Hi MWHAR,
a third scaler would be nice - with scale length wings and so forth? DLE has released their 170cc twin, which will reduce the cost of such a project by far

Going light may be not difficult - mine i received with the fuse being built 80% - all the longer ons are balsa - as per plan - I have doubled 4 of them with 6mm x 10 mm spruce and it gave immense strength and rigidity to the structure as a whole. Busy strengthening the main bulk head and sides of the cabin with cf cloth. I have decided to install the MT 70cc twin which fits inside the cowl perfectly, will have to built a custom exhaust, though.

The wings will be rebuild using better material

Cheers

Toby

These Mulligans fly great. I built and flew one back in the 70's and have another kit ready to build. I think I would like to try my next Nosen Mulligan with a Saito 325 under the cowl.

I just ordered the Mr Mulligan short kit and plans from Eddie. Can you give me a heads-up on what other balsa to buy.

Thanks, 1Mickey

007dave,

I just picked up a complete Ikon Mister Mulligan as well, I can check the plans and instuction booklet for you when I get home this evening and get back to you with my findings. I also have plans to scan the booklet and plans into a PDF file.

I can send you a copy so you can use them in your build if you like, hopefully this weekend if I can get a break from work, just PM me with your contact info and I will forward it to you when I get it scanned.

Regards,

Cesar

Dave,

This is what I found in the instruction booklet on page 2 (word for word):

"Wing 2 to 2.5 degrees incidence. By setting the wing to match the curve of F9 after the 1/8" cross grain sheeting is on, one should get it"

I hope this helps, please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

Regards,

Cesar

Hi Cesar

Thanks for the information, however when i offer up the rib to F9 and measure down to the datum line the wing rib has negative incidence which cant be right, But when you simulate 2 - 2.1/2 degress the wing rib dosent follow the line of the fuslage at all.......Most strange

Cheers

007dave,

I was able to get the instuction booklet scanned today, but I could not upload them because the file was too big.

Just PM me with your email address and I will be glad to it to you.

Regards,

Cesar

This an excert from an e-mail I recd from Paddles1961:

I don't know how to upload pictures on rc universe but here are a few pictures of the Mr Mulligan. I have decided to save the kit and make a copy of it. I have made a few changes to the plane for strength, economy, speed.I'm useing NW red cedar fence boards for Fuse spars-elev-rud-wing tips(free). Popular wing spars-leading edge $4. I paid $12 for a 1/8th door skin, $17 for 5yards of parachute nylon, a street sign for the aluminum landing gear, and the turnigy 52cc gas for $161, maybe $25 for dope and paint. We'll see how it fly's

Very nice job you have done, just proves a good builder can make do with anyhting when they put their mind and
soul into a project. Very ingenious use of materials, just like they used to do it back in the early years of model
aviation. Congratulations on a project well done...........

I painted the decals on printer paper and spray adhisive them on with a epoxy wash on top, the gulf decals I printed off the pc. I put .98c walmart paint on and wal-lal finished.  The cowl I made a blister plug and wrapped 16 pec plactic's for 16 perfect blisters which are glued on.I put 12 flites in and its all dialed in to a great flier!!! It turned out better then I expected

Very nice job, on the Mulligan, Paddles! Looks and flys good. I had a Nosen Mulligan many years ago with a Kioritz 2.4 on the nose. Flew great, but a guy offered me a bunch of money, and I sold it! Your material gathering for this build reminds me of myself. I am a long time carpenter, and when I spot some clear scrap on the job, I bring out my little table saw and make sticks on my lunch hour. Last scratch build was a 1/4 Fokker DVIII, used lots of Balsa, some Redwood and Douglas fir, door skin, and 3/8 ply. It came out at 18lbs and flys great with a ancient Zenoah G23. I cheated and used Solartex, expensive, but just the best! How do you like your Turnigy 52? I bought one, havn't run it yet, but have had great luck with the 30 size. I have a Nosen Mulligan kit in the closet, am planning to clip the wings and shorten the nose to make it more scale. I have a nib Zenoah G38 for it, put away!

Hello Cap. The Turnigy runs very well and starts on a 1-3 flips. The rc club I fly at is very brand orintated and gave me greef for my economic choise of HK 52cc turnigy and not DA . After a couple of flites a member put a tac. on it ,the peanut gallery has gone quite 7800rpm 20X10 prop. The only weak essue with the turnigy 52cc is the muffler mounting. It has a U slot for the mounting bolts.
This mulligan fly's better then expected so I thought about building another with some mod's to make it a DGA-15 ( lots of color scheme's )
I've been looking for a set of plans and templates for a fokker dviii. what do you recomend?

They're only critic's if they participate- the peanut gallery is full

Ah yes, the peanut gallery! They are funny. I think every club has them. Glad to hear you have had positive results with your TG52. A friend and I have eight or more HK engines that we fly and they all work well. No complaints. As to the DVIII, I used Frank Comyns 1/4 scale plan set. The D8 is a bunch of work to build. All ribs are different size, and the wing has like 10 spars. I fully sheeted my wing, then set the framed up model aside for 10 years. When I resumed working on it a couple of years ago, I couldn't remember what I had done inside the wing. I started worrying about the structural integrety of that fully cantelevered wing. So, I added a couple of carbon fiber strips to the under side of the wing at the spar locations, and its been fine.
