Default Cockpit paint?

I bought a Extra 300S at Perry a couple of years ago about half built. The guy that started it has used some kind of a black textured rubbery stuff all inside the cockpit. It actually looks really good. Can anyone give me an idea as to what this stuff might be. I guess its a spray.

Thanks

Dave

Could it be the vehicle rocker panel coating for rust prevention?

You know Huck I was wondering the same thing. But I thought all the undercoating I ever put on had an oily appearance to it.

Huck is probably right. The rocker-panel paint has some kind of stuff that makes this finished paint not want to "flow out" smooth. It's not a"oily" paint like undercoating. This stuff is a real tuff paint. I've used it on rocker panels. It also, helps protect against rock chips.

When it first came out it was called Crackle or Krinkle paint sold at most auto parts stores. My little hot rod dodge came from the factory with the rocker covers already done with it, very cool and all the rage back in the olden days!!

Wow Thanks Huck. Get me all excited and then tell me you can't get the stuff any more. LOL.

I went to Autozone today and got a can of DupliColor Rubberized Undercoat. $4.49. I don't think this is the stuff. Though I might end up using it. It's paintable. At least they say that it is. They call it black but it actually has a brown hue to it. I figure if I have too I can paint it with flat black. The texture is about right so....
