Any one else built one of these planes?

It's a nice looking kit and i just helped my brother finish his.
He is built it as a static display though and i think it's great for that but to actually fly it.... Seems very weak.

I also purchased on and am planning to build it as a flyer and was wondering if I should use basswood instead of balsa or just put more support in it.
The balsa it comes with breaks if you look at it too long.... Really.

Any suggestions are appreciated.
