RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***
I would also buy a 60 kaos if Great Planes would decide to run it as a kit.
I am also thinking on a low profile 60 to 90 size 2 stroke engine for this new Ultra Sport.
Alfred.

If you want a 60 size Kaos, try www.bridiairplanes.com. The website is for Bluejay Models. They are making allot of the old Bridi kits. I have their 60 size Dirty Birdy kit. The wood quality is quite good and the prices are very reasonable. The only fault some people may find with them is the fact that the building instructions are from the original Bridi kits, so they leave some decisions to the builder.
If you want to use a 2-stroke, the OS 75AX would be a great choice. Anything larger than that is really not worth it because the airplane is not designed to go fast IMHO.

Today, while at work, I received a strange phone call stating that there was a package waiting for me at my local Greyhound. Thinking that this had to be some type of hoax I told the caller, “yeah right,†at which point the caller chuckled and replied, “no really, you need to stop by or we will return it!†Well when I got there I gave my name to the clerk who immediately laughed and said, “do these look like a joke,†pointing to two huge boxes setting in the corner with “FRA-GIL-E†stamped in big red letters. What else could I do, I mean my birthday is next week! So, I loaded them up and trotted towards my workshop.
As I patiently cut the tape, I wonder which friend was trying to play the ultimate practical birthday joke. Well when I removed the first box lid this is what I found:
Does this qualify me for a number in the brotherhood?

I finally started my US 60 kit the other day. This is one of those kits that seems to fly along but is fun every step of the way. I've finished and hinged the tail pieces and started the wing yesterday. I had to look and relook to find the te jig piece. Everything is set on a mag board and is almost ready to glue in place. I'm using 2 aileron servos and no torque rods.
I'm thinking of putting a Saito 1.15 on it. Any opinions as far as being nose heavy or about power?
Do I qualify as a member yet???

I agree - I can't imagine anything but a high pitched scream as you do a low high-speed fly by in a Ultra Sport!

Thanks. I'm not an OS person, but would put on a Tower .75 if any were available. You can't even find a used one. Everyone is hanging on to theirs. I've got 3 or 4 new .61s sitting around but am pretty much running 4 strokes now. I would make the exception for the Tower .75 though.

blw, I run a MDS .68 on my .60 us. & it I fly most of the flight under 3/4 throttle. Full throttle vertical climbs go on forever. Your .61 will power it just fine. I tend to favor 4 strokes, but in this plane, a 2 stoke is much better. Bill

I am flying mine with a .75 AX. I had to move the battery back to balance, but that was the only thing. I figure I can always throttle back. The one problem was that the mount that came with the US would not fit the .75. Also, you may have to change the mounting holes on the firewall just a little...I can;t remember, because of the side thrust.
I am flying with an RDS8000 and flies great.

I have a TH-75 in my US60. At a RTF weight of 7.0 lbs, I have been flying she with an APC 12x6 with unlimited vertical and BIG loops. As the engine breaks in more, I will start testing with other props.
Too bad the TH-75 is out of stock at this time. Wonderful engine.

I'm currently using an Evolution 13x8 and it works very well with OS75AX. If you can afford them, the Graupner 13.5x8's will really pull it around.

I finally got around to starting my US 40 kit that I've had for nearly a year. I can't believe it has been discontinued again Does anyone know if Tower stopped carrying it or if GP has completely abandoned the 40 size kit?
Anywho, plans are to build it with flaps and retracts with a fully sheeted wing and a Magnum XLS 52 in the nose. Count me in

You can see on the plans how narrow they have the wheel base. The blocks go from W2 to W4. You would have a real handful if you used the narrow wheel base and had just any toe in/out problems.
Thanks for pointing that out (again). I don't know if I would have caught that before drilling holes in the block, etc.
